Stumpy auto colorado cookies

Hi guys,

One of my cookies doesn't seem to be growing right. I have 2 of these and the other one looks good.
This one just seems to be getting bushy but the leaves aren't growing big. It's on the same light regime as the other (20/4)
And has just started nutes (50%recommended dose AN and cal mag)
Environment.is good 25/26 degrees and 40to 70%RH.
It's under a 600w Hps.
Please advise.

Feedback would be great on this one.
She's defo a female but just seems to be producing too many leaves without the older ones growing.. Here's a pic of the other one for comparison. It's one day older. They've both had the exact same water, soil and nutes.
It looks like one of this plants that will only produce a couple of grams. Should I expirement training on it and try reveal the new leaves more? Pic is good plant which I'm just going to grow naturally as it's my.first grow. If it goes all the way to bud then I'm happy and can get into lst etc next grow.

I'm also growing a Colorado Cookie.I wouldn't worry to much if she is slower than the other one because this happens once in awhile with autos,even with the same strain.Just make sure when you water that the entire pot is moist all the way to the bottom.I wouldn't mess with training this early but when you see side branches trying to pop through you can tuck a few leaves out of the way so they recieve more light.They both look just fine and i'm sure they will be fine.You might want to add more soil to the pots once they get bigger to fill in the settled soil.

I am not an expert, but I wouldn't be concerned, at only 16 days. You already have as much leaf surface area, leaves and biomass forming as a lot of what many people cite as ideal/preferable - larger but actually more spindly, with longer inter-nodes, plants that may also have bigger (but fewer) leaves; and if you really compare them at the same age, you've likely got comparable leaf surface area. Hopefully, you'll end up with a monster bush.

Also, keep in mind what is happening with root growth at this stage is probably way more important than leaf/stem growth, which still has loads of time to catch up. Others may know better, but at about days 14-20 in a good-size Air-Pot I'd expect multiple root branches have finally hit the bottom and sides and are just starting to really go crazy with branching and growth. Let's hope that's what's happening. If in the next week or 2 it becomes a real runt, stunted, does not branch/bush out or grow taller, etc., then you'll have to make the cull/let-live or put-it-to-the-side decision; or rejects can be (trans)planted outside.

What is your grow room temp? From the leaves, I'd say its hot in there or the light is a little too close.

Hi man,

Thanks for reply. Grow room temp is sitting at 23.5 just now and has never been over 30. Lowest however has been 14 but I've corrected that with a heater now.
The light being too close is defo a possibility and I've been raising it the last couple of days as I want to see a bit of stretch. It's just strange how both plants have been given same regime but are very different. It's almost like the stumpy one wants to start flowering already?.
Really appreciate your feedback though mate as all input is positive for me.

With regards the watering- This bio bizz light mix gets very dry on top to the point that when i water it just beads instead of soaking in. It soaks in after a wee while but I lose a bit over the side which makes it difficult to measure how much I actually watered. Do you think I would benefit from pebbles on top of the soil to stop the heat from the light caking the top couple of cm?

I'm using a reflector type light @600w hps so it's chucking out a fair bit of heat.

I also need to top up the soil as namvet25 said . I was quite suprised by how much it reduced after a couple of weeks. I bought 100 litres thinking it would be enough but obviously not.

If you can feel the heat from your light when you hold the back of your hand at the plant tops ,the light is to close.I wouldn't use pebbles because it stops the soil from breathing.I no what you mean about water not soaking in at first but If you just water a little at first and let that soak in then come back and water a little more later on.IF you try to water a dry pot all at once alot of water will run off or just run through the pot and out the bottom.So just try and water in two or three steps leaving it soak in between and this should make sure the entire pot is watered.

I can feel the heat on the back of my hand but it's mild.If i was to pull the light away to the point i cant feel any heat at all would the intensity not be too weak? Do I even need to worry about weak intensity in a grow this small with a 600?Can it just sit a couple of feet above the plants and give them the light it needs ?I don't see too many people doing it without a cooltube ,which I don't have. I would guess the light is 16 inches away just now. I might measure for clarity. I'm getting mixed signal throughout the forum on watering as some say 100/125 ml at this stage but it doesn't look nor feel like what the plant wants. I'm very aware that noobs like me are prone to overwater though and I'm trying to avoid that. They have just started getting watered every day now . I was only doing it every other day before so have only been watered about 9 times since sprouting.
