Grow Room Suitable LED's For limited vertical space (34")

As for training with a wide container I'd drill many holes in the outer rim and use coated wire to keep the branches down. Several S bends on longer branches keep nodes incredibly close and compact, while using minimal vertical space.

I've trained outdoor plants that were 30'+ in circumference to be less than 4' high.....so if I can keep a 30" auto less than 4" i'll be totally set! :D

Edit- Laughs at how stoned the above logic is....have another shot of mango from the vape Skelly. :)

Rather than jack Hotbunz thread any further I was hoping we could carry on the discussion here. Are you not concerned about the recommended distance from the light on the mars 48X3? I was looking at them but minimum of 12" in flower seems like too tight of a squeeze.

I'm thinking with that light I'll be able to go closer than 12". But I just had an idea today. I'm going to raise my cabinet off the floor slightly lower than the height of my pot...cut a hole in the floor approximately the diameter of my pot...and drop it in so only about an inch is sticking up above the cabinet floor. That way I gain all that vertical space. :D

Thanks once again for the comment Nuggz...it very well may be a nightmare...we shall see. I have been training plants since I read it in Marijuana Handbook in '91 so I am pretty well versed in that aspect with photo strains. I will not be doing tiny pots and using piles of seed, though I will be using as shallow pots as I can get away with(likely smaller Rubbermaid type containers) Going to keep my pot height at 8" max (possibly 6") As I have decided to just buy one light to start instead of 2 just to make sure this will work i'll start 2 auto's and see how it goes. I could probably cut the floor out of the cab and get another 6"...lol

Oh you had the cut out the floor idea already :)

Haha...precisely what I was thinking! Great high minds think alike!!

Hello All! I'm growing in 26" of verticals space. That's from the bottom of my LED light to the top of my res. I've been using Mars-Hydro lights with good results. So far I've tried their Mars II 700w and 400w lights and their Mars Original 300w light. I prefer the Mars II as it uses 5w LED diodes. The intense light from the 5w diodes seems to keep the plants short. I did get lsome ight burn from the 700w light when the plants grew close to the light. The burn was only on the tops of the plants and I can't say if it effected yield but I've been getting 4-6 z's dry out of six plants grown in hydro. I'd advise staying away from EBay as some AFN members have reported buying lights that did not throw the light they advertised.
Mars-hydro.com is their URL. The Mars II 400 is $190 landed in the U.S. with a 3 yr warranty. I have had a warranty issue and they took care of me. Tina from Mars has a thread in the AFN Marketplace if you have any questions.

@jackmc - Thanks so much for the info! It sound like we have a very similar sized space to grow in. I am very happy to hear you are making it work successfully! As for the ebay light I have been recommended the light by a member here. Real draw on the 300w is supposed to be 165w.

@flynfish - Thanks for the comment! This is quite enlightening hearing both of you guys are growing in such a small space! BTW awesome screen name flynfish.(I love to fish)

Any way to mount the light to the top on the outside ... helps w/ heat, helps w/ space and allows the entire grow space to be a light chamber ...

Unfortunately not...as the cab is in the living room exposed lights are a no-go.
