What's up guys. So me and my girlfriend decided we were going to start our first grow recently. We're using a 250watt hps light and have 5 plants on the go. We didnt expect all the seeds to germinate so weren't anticipating 5, anyways...as far as we can tell they look healthy and are growing nicely. They have been in the soil for a week today. Were using a wardrobe, managed to keep the temperature just below 30degrees after a lot of fan adjustments etc.
Now, I've been doing a lot of research since planting (would have made more sense to research first, I know I know, but I was just taking a mates advice) anyway, I've planted in 5 litre pots so they are going to need a transplant soon enough, which is our first mistake, secondly we planted in miracle grow potting mix...since researching this I have read nothing but bad things, so I've been thinking, when we transplant to 3 gallon pots...is it a good idea to use something such as fox farm to fill the new pots? Will I then be able to start feeding the plants without getting nute burn? Or will there still be too much miracle grow potting mix with the feed in? Sorry guys, we are absolute beginners! This is my biggest concern at the minute so any feedback on this would be awesome!
Ill attach a couple of pics of the plants. Unfortunately I'm away from home atm and don't have any pics of the full set up, will post these when I'm home on Sunday.
Thanks for looking guys, look forward to hearing back from you!

Evening mate, welcome! I`m not an indoor grower(at the mo!). I`d suggest you chip on over to the Introduction section cos you`ll get your post seen by more peeps over there. MG is a tricky beast at the best of times and FFOF is probably a bit hot for your youngsters! Introduce yourself and you`ll get all the advice you could ask for(from peeps who have used those growing mediums before!) Nice to have you here fella :smokebuds: :peace:

On a side note, you could tier your pots(would cut down on stressing your girls)!https://www.autoflower.org/f35/ Here`s a link to Intros thread. Hope it works :D:

Hello smokeandlift, welcome to AFN!
I'm a new member aswell and Im starting to grow indoor aswell, just like you, but just one plant at the moment!
There will be more after this one! :)

Your plants seem really healthy, nice to see such little ones!
Well transplantation requires a lot of experience, it could go well or wrong, you just have to find the best moment to move them.
I would give my opinion but I'm a newbie aswell and you should listen to these guys, they know everything man!

Where did you buy your seeds?

Cheers mate, hope everything grows well!

Thanks alot for the response dude, ill do just that! I realise the conditions aren't the best, wish I'd done my research first! It just kind of happened one day when my mate came round for a visit and told me he had his light in the car. Next thing I knew we were at the local seed shop and garden centre!

Add vermiculite to your Miracle grow, maybe a little sand....helps 'dilute' the nutrients in the mix. Kinda like adding water to a too-salty stew. Mix in a little Fox Farm into your mix. Your plants should thrive. No need to supplement feeding for veg growth. Once your youngsters are showing pistils, then introduce bloom feeding @ 1/4 strength, water, every few cycles....work up to 1/2 strength. Main thing, you don't want fertilizer burn.

Thanks a lot man, I'll get on that asap. I had a massive panic when I read Dr Autoflowers thread and he said using Miracle Grow is a big no no with autos, he actually recommended using 0 feeding supplements throughout the whole grow if mg is used. However as I'll be moving mine into pots 3 times the size, 2/3rds of the soil will be foxfarm I guessed they should be okay if i start feeding small amounts later down the line.
Just got home now and the soil PH is nearly up to 8, any tips on this? should I just pick up some ph down?
Thanks for the tips dude

Ph up and down is a must have along with a good ph meter. What meter did you use to check the soil? What was your ph lvl in the water you used if you were able to check it?
Here is a link for some newbie tools https://www.autoflower.org/f44/newbie-tools-what-needed-why-come-contrbute-7445.html
Must - got to have it in order to have a successful grow.
Occasional - this item should be included and will be used most of the time.
Seldom - this item may provide a limited use but may or may not be very important when it is.
Specialization - Will add to the ease of your grow and allow you to free yourself up more but are not critical to use.
and a link on people who use/used mg at AFN

I'll check back and welcome to AFN smokeandlift

Honesty i would finish my grow i. That soil
Do.ur research wwhileu canamd let these play out

That size of a pot should still getu a whollop of buds

Also research some of the Organics threadsand you can make a suersoil as u build up for the next grow

Mg has slow release nutes so u might be able to go all grow without a feeding

Best of luck for the rest of ur grow
