Mephisto Genetics Super Soil vs AN in Coco. Sour Crinkle, BlueToof, and Gold Glue

Overwatering is probably the most common mistake made in growing. Even experienced growers can over water. I just did the other day and you could see the stall in growth and thin/wet roots are visible in clear cup. First week of seedlings growth can effect the entire grow.

Some strains like a dry medium as well....like so dry its downright scary how dry it needs to be to keep em' happy!! I find thats a consistent trait with Dutch Passion Blueberry photoperiod during week 1 to week 4. Its tough when they are finicky for a dry medium!!

Yes my plan for next grow I'm gonna go easy on water if I keep them Healthy until I get the pots turned on I'm gonna let the GBD do its job lol I got some Dark Devil seeds from a buddy and a skunk I'm gonna grow

Don't mean to sidetrack Slow's thread. As a newbie who overwatered cloth pots before and switched to autopots I am very happy now. When starting I presoak the autopots with a precharge in the coco. Once I transplant to the autopots I try and time it so I don't have to topwater the autopots. Since they are already moist top to bottom and drying out from top to bottom I find it pretty easy to just say I'm not going to water the pots by hand and let the precharge moisture do its thing. But I weigh them often to make sure they don't totally dry out.

Good luck man. I hope you find a way to make the autopots work for you.

If you grow 2 Auto seeds and one is in a 1 gal pot and one is in a 2 gal pot, no Airdomes...just normal. The 1 gal pot plant will almost always start flowering first and finish sooner. There is a correlation between root growth and flower induction. I believe that is one reason many of the growers on here have plants going 80-100 days. The size of the plant can lengthen your entire grow Cycle With Autos. I have a perfect example, I have a coup!e Of 3BOG plants. One is in A Smaller pot 1/2 gal, no Airdome and it is much smaller. It is ready to be flushed, looks killer...but 1/2 the size of the other plant. The other is in a 1gal pot. It is much larger, and needs an easy 7-10 days. Different phenos can cause this...but plant size is the real reason for the faster finish. Air injection increases root growth, which in return sparks flowering faster.

Mitch From Mephisto stuffs a lot of plants in small spaces, But Yields are not huge. They do not embelish flowering times. They do 2 Things that Help Speed Things Up. Or Not Slow Them Down Shall We Say. First, they and I prefer to start Our Seedlings In Small Pots And then transfer to larger Pots later. If done correctly the plants will grow roots better, grow faster, and show sex sooner. This is a fact. Transplanting them at the right time makes them dive right into flowering...instead of vegging longer. If you are looking to do more plants and turn them over faster...that is the way. If you want less plants and want to SCROG, use a,larger pot to ensure a longer veg cycle. Some People claim Autos have a SET time span before they flower. Bull crap. Just overwatering alone can extend your veg time. Lots of factors for different grow times with Autos. I personally got into experimenting with Autos to turn over plants fast and get a variety of strains in a smaller space. With much experimentation I have definitely found ways to manipulate Autos. The real key to growing successfully is to find each strains natural growth is. Then manipulate it to your wants/needs. I have grown a 3BOG in DWC, 5 gal Bucket. Massive plant. Would take up a 4x4 tent by herself!!! That is a small/medium sized strain when you do it in a small pot. I could fit 9 small ones OR 4-6 medium 3BOG in the same 4x4 space. FWIW, increased size doesn't translate to improved yields always. Nor does size translate to improved quality. Many times large plants have more waste and varying qualities of material on the same plant.
great information makes sense to me keep it up slowandeasy i need to start making notes or il be back in a months time trying to remember all this :pass:

hey everybody DONT!!! forget to head on over to the guess the hash pile comp for festivas and have a guess you could win some seeds

Experimenting with autos is fun slowandeasy

I’ve used 2.5L Faygo bottles to shorten height and flowering time. I get 5 strains, each in rows of 5 for a total of 25 plants in my 3’ tent. With this SOG I was able to produced a dry weight of .25 to .5 per plant in roughy 80 days. 7E0080DC-EE07-4532-8ECA-C5DF5AF3366F.jpeg

Hey slight update. I will go take some pictures in a few. The Super Soil girls look healthy, smaller than the AN plants. I am just giving them water as needed and Recharge every Monday now. However, they are drying out daily now...so growth has improved. I think next Super Soil girls will do much better. This is my first try with it, and I already know some adjustments I need to make to have better luck. I will be adding an Airdome to next round to see how it does and I will be watering different. Biggest issue I see is self induced over watering. I water my regular Coco girls with nutes more frequently and they love it. Super Soil girls like a much dryer medium.

The Super Soil girls are very healthy, no issues with deficiency. So far the strength of the mix has kept them healthy. But I will be adding a little twist next time. I believe in feeding my seedlings in Coco from day 1. Super Soil instructions call for NO super soil in top layer if Coco. I only use 2 gal pots, and will layer like this next time.

2.5 tablespoons in bottom layer
1.5 table spoons in middle layer
.5 tablespoons in top layer
They pots will be hydrated 4-5 days BEFORE planting to get things precharged and dried out a little.

Btw, the AN plants are significantly bigger. The Sour Crinkle is almost as big as my Double Grapes. However, the Sour Crinkle has an Airdome. The Gold Glue and Bluetoof in 1 gal pots without Airdomes are much beefier than the 2 gal pot Super Soil sisters.
