Day 2

1st 24 hrs in distilled water cup.
2nd 24 on to the wet nap. Inside of a Tupperware container in the cabinet.
What ya think guys, we got some white tails looking like 9/10 so far?
How much longer? I've seen some people plant them in the rockwool with it cracked with some white showing, and some people wait till the tails super long almost with she'll coming off?

Give them another 24 or so?

Its really up to you, if those where my seeds i would go ahead and plant those babies

Nice name, Jeezy's good music.

I soak then plant, soak for 12-18 hours in a warm place, then plant directly in dirt.. you don't wanna plant directly in the FFOF soil though brother, it's way too hot for autos. I see you're using the rockwool.. you intend to use that until sex? If so, the FFOF may be fine.. if not you can get some seed starter mix and mix it up some, that'd be key. Jiffy seed starter at wal-mart is like 2.50 and you'd only need two bags to mix into your FFOF to dilute it a bit. I'd also add some lime to the FFOF, roughly 4 tablespoons for the whole bag, regardless if you grow straight in it or transplant to it. It does have oyster shells in it to buffer the pH, but their nutes run hot and so does their soil. I've never used rockwool to transplant to soil but seems like it'd work good though. Your paper towel appears to be extra damp there my friend, too much moisture during that stage of a seedlings life can cause it to damp off. You want it to be damp, not wet, ya dig?

I feel ya!
But yeah I'm goin straight to rockwool cubes. Then when roots are flourishing out of the bottom I was going to transfer to the ffof soil. And yes I intend to use until sex. I understand what your saying about the moisture, I'm gonna let these bad boys soak for a few more hours then will be ready for transplant. So I'm trying to figure what the lime was for bud, to take the ph down? Would I added to the soil and to the actual nutes. Grow big, big bloom, tiger bloom etc..

Thx, jeezy

The lime would be amended to the soil, you'd take your soil, dump it on a tarp or in a huge bin and mix 4 tablespoons of dolomitic lime or garden lime in. This is just my :2cents: as I've used 10-12 bags of FFOF during my time growing and it's always run hot. If you're uncomfortable mixing 4 tablespoons in, at least mix 2. I'm assuming you're using the 1.5CF bag.

I'm not too sure about taking plants to sex in rockwool man, you might want to look into that more.. it doesn't seem like the best option for autos, especially for your first grow.. Once those roots start coming out of the bottom, they're going to do two things.. self prune or die. What about a container underneath the roots that they can grow into as you wait for sex, would this be possible in your set-up?

As well, starting in FFOF and not diluting it, once you initially plant your the new plant in there.. there's roughly 21-30 days of feed in the soil. That's 21-30 days you wouldn't be using nutrients, keep that in mind because I made the mistake of feeding FF nutrients in FFOF and burning the shit out of my plants a couple times before I diluted my soil and waited 2 weeks until after planting to start using nutrients.

I'd also recommend, depending on your water source, picking up a bottle of Cal-Mag as the FF nutes are devoid of it in most of the sense and I can almost promise you will experience magnesium deficiency in flower as I did many times.

Do you have pH additives and a method to measure the pH on hand, ready to go for when you start feeding water? If not, I urge you even more to include that lime into your mix.

Anymore questions, let me know man.. FFOF was my first medium to ever grow in and FF nutes (the entire line) were the first nutrients I ever used. It took me a bit to get dialed in and there is other factors, but I'll offer any and all advice I can.

Not possible for my set up ATM, but I guess it's called first grow for a reason, gonna be some hiccups along the way. Cal-mag is goin on the to do list? Something carried at Walmart? And yeah man I got ph reader, and ph up and down on deck. Garden lime is also on the to do list, I'm trying to not burn the fuck out of my babies if possible. But unfortantly it's rockwool, cubes are already soakin! So let's take it from there, I really appreciate all the info for sure. Btw know much bout when and if to use superthrive. I also wanted to throw in mollases.

Well actually I could make a late night run to Walmart get some lime and drop seeds straight to soil? What ya think?

Ahhhh you live and you learn, rockwool here we come.

And we're on our way!

:toke:
10/10 germination. Score.
Between 1/4 - 1/2 inch placed root down in the rock wool cubes.
Placed in my germination/clone box I built w/ 4 23=100 cfl
When ready to roll, transfer to 3 gal pots.
Then hanging up the 4' 8tube ho t-5's.

Ok I just ran the temps 82 @ 35% humidity.
That was inside my germ box. Not inside the dome itself.
Should I place the thermometer inside the dome?
And what is optimum temps?

Also the 4 cfl's are evenly about 2 1/2" I'd say from the dome cover itself, too close or just right?

Day 3

Ok so I ran temps inside the dome. Tell me what you think, where do I need to be at?

86'@ 80% humidity.
I've done some reading around,
And 80 degree area seems to be normal, I'm not sure about optimal though.
As for humidity I can't find anything on it so I'm a little lost,
Input please!
