hi all,

i'm thinking of building a second little grow space, purely for those first few weeks of growth, before they can be moved into my second bigger grow space under hps

because space is limited, and location isn't ideal, i'd need to this space to run as quiet as possible, so it would have to generate as little heat as possible!

although i've got a spare 250 mh, the heat generated just wouldn't make it viable. i'm planning on using those little pc fans for bringing in and extracting air, they're run super quiet - and smell isn't really an issue at that stage so no need for a carbon filter.

so i'm looking at either a t5 or cfl

what would be best for me? or best for the plants?!

for the t5 i've been looking at something like this;

T5 48w (2 x 2ft Tubes)

or for cfl i've been looking at the various blue bulbs from 125w to 250w (and i've seen some 300w bulbs!)

the t5 sounds good, the guy in my local grow shop thinks they're great, and they generate less heat, and give better light coverage than cfl's. but 48w sounds kinda weak! but on the plus, 48w means cheaper electric bills!

but i don't mind going for a 125w or 250w cfl if the heat generated can be handled with multiple pc fans, and they're overall better for the plant ... but i don't know ...

so give me your opinions/views etc! thanks :)

T5 hands down. I have a 2ft, 4 bulb t5 and it blows doors off cfl's. Ihad a small diy box with PC fans and it worked awesome. I still use and love the t5. Cfl's are in a storage box.

thanks @Yeatster

i was originally looking at the 2 bulb, but i've measured up and i think i could work the 4 bulb system - and theres not a lot of difference in price, and i'm sure the plants would like double the light! :)
