I just tried similar.4x4x9 so the tap root would not bottom so soon and yet I'd get a stunted plant; just not absurdly stunted. One strain got huge and now it's absurd-soak it, soak it, soak it, wish I was on drip. But I do think that it's an auxin from the tap root tip involved in early stunting. Long tall for that taproot and it will not be until rootbind that it stunts. That' not always going to be the case but it seems to be the case for some of the strains..
If you get real tall then compression can play a factor-for this concept I use hydroton--PS my best rooting is narrow tall and hydroton filled container,s the top slowly feeds the bottom nuggets.I was looking at these 24" tall 10" wide planters I thought About trying one cause I think too the theory is sound...I may put a freebie Auto in there and
This one doesn't work so well. Plants roots work by growing toward what they want, they stop growing as soil gets hostile and may wall off or kill it's own roots if some of them are in very hostile soil (too rich) The root needs to have as much of all the nutrents to grow thru to be healthy and happy.Interesting concept...hmmm....I have considered a tall thin pot before...but not yet followed through with the experiment...I also considered a tri-pot....coir medium with 3 hempy pots at the bottom so the roots are in 3 base pots from a single upper pot, with each basepot fed with a distinct N-P-K fert....theory being the plant will take what it needs from each basepot....
