Quick question: How hot is too hot? My 2/12 week old girls (white widow/cheese cross) are in the tent with 2 125 watt CFL's. The temp stays between 80 and 86 degrees :( They look good except for a couple of fan leaves curling under slightly. Should I be concerned?

Thanks,
Jenny

Hey Jenn-ay!! :bighug: ..hope you're doing well,... glad you made it over too!
.... Mmmm, might be a little toasty for them, if the source is close... that curling leaf-- can you post a pic, to confirm if it's heat/light stress damage? Otherwise, as general ambient air temps go, those are tolerable, if the RH is around 50%... we want to avoid water/transpiration stresses, which can occur with any combo of high air temps, low RH, strong air movement, light source intensity throwing out proximity heat (heat lamp effect), roasting only a close part of the plant,... So, let's see what that leaf looks like, and see if you can get an RH inside tent,...:smoking:....*If I miss you here , holler over at the Live Help Thread....

Helloooo Dr. W! :toke:

Hope all's well in your world, my brother! Here are a couple of photos of "the leaf".

The RH is in the mid 40% to mid 50%'s. I probably let the soil get a bit dry, too. Whaddya think?

Many thanks for always being here and... :bighug:

Jenny

:jointman:...aaaw, ain't nut'in' to it mon! It's a 1st true leaf, which often can be a bit misshapened,... she looks a-OK, Jenn-ay--:pass:...RH is fine too, with a nice gentle breeze angled to help lift out the warm air, things should be fine,... cooler by 5 degree's would be better, but not something to grind over! Soil moisture looks okay, but eye's don't measure the weight! Have you learned the hefting trick, to see how well watered- over all- your pots are? If not, you can calibrate yourself by hefting the pot when it's on the dry side, when it well watered, and when it's juuust right! That, and a finger poke a couple inches down, should be gauge enough to assess,... at this stage, they like a little wet-to-dryish cycling,...I do like fabric pots because they tend to dry more evenly than plastic ones, if faster... Higher temps/low RH can make pots dry on top, but still plenty moist deeper,... prompting folks to water a bit too heavy, not realizing....a constantly soggy bottom can make for rotten roots! :nono:
... Thanks Jen, I'm doing okay too,... and you're always welcome!....that cross should be juicy, indeed!

Hey, they dont look like the heat is doing any damage. I had a Candy Kush auto, and an afghan kush ryder I grew out once in high heat. 80-86 consistently. I believe it did hurt my overall yield. How much? not sure. All I know is what I did get was some killer meds. So, nothing to worry about. Just something tokeep and eye on, and try to bring down as you can. Waira covered it though. So, I dont really have nothing to add. =) Cheers.

Hi Jenny, Waira knows more than I do but I'd agree with Neko, that temp. should be fine. I try to keep my grows around 80F-84F. Good luck.
