Harvest & Curing Testing for potency before harvest

Hi All

you CAN check for potency, but is that what you are REALLY doin', or just coppin' a buzz? Because if you think about it, you can't change the potency at this point now can you? Maybe earlier, but not now. They only thng you can do is wait for the "swell" The "swell" once you achieve it, you will always remember what it looks and feels like. It's like riding a bike. I no longer need a magnifying glass to check for males or maturity, I have a better "feel" for my plants. I think I know them more than I know my GF.

So once you fell the swell, the fat swell, how it increases the weight of your bud by about half, then it is at full potency.

But I am not above clippin a bud here or there.

Peace

I've yet to get ahead of my grows---I always run out of smoke before the next harvest. 6 - 10 weeks to grow the stuff and 2 - 3 weeks to smoke it...shee-it.

I currently have photos & autos. My photos are Spliff Seeds Jack F1 and KC Brains Haze Special. I started snipping lower branch buds when they were 6 weeks into flowering---mostly white hairs, and the stuff kicked my head in sideways. I've been slowly working my way up the plants. Pretty soon they will each just be one top cola. Dynamite smoke.

In the winter I dry my buds wrapped in A4 sized paper and then wedge the package against the radiator. Do this in the morning and they will be ready for toking when I get home in the evening. In the summer I cut up the buds and dry them on the windowsill. All of that is just for emergency bud. When I have enough bud, I let the other buds air-dry for a week or more.

Marijuana plants are fairly hardy creatures. Autos are sensitive but the main things they dislike are too many nutes and topping. Also, by the time the plant is well-budded, it ain't gonna die or wig-out if you start removing buds.

The rule of thumb with quick-drying weed is: the longer you can stand to wait, the better. Pick the slowest method you can stand. The oven & microwave work too damn fast. The faster it dries, the harsher the smoke. The slower it dries, the smoother the smoke.

Best of luck on your harvest!:check:
