New Grower Testing ph of your run off?

I have liquid ph test and my runvoff is yellow when I comes out of the bottom if my pot. I guess u have two questions first is will I still get a accurate answer if the run off is yellow and im using a liqud ph test ( its general hydroponics ph testing solution it test between 4.5ph to 9.0 ph) ?
Second question is whats making my feed turn yellow the soil nutrients? My soil is pro mix poting soil 70% MG POTTING SOIL 15% AND MG ORGANIC POTTING SOIL 15%

The water picks up color from the organic ingredients in the mix and this is normal and nothing to worry about.

I was using liquid ph solution and starting having a lot of issues. I finally broke down and got a ph meter and found the ph to be about a point different. In my case, that difference was huge for the health of the plant

Yea after taxes and after this grow ill look into one I needed one asap cause I got a pool ph test and pretty much did think to look at its range so its low is 6.9 and uless someone knows a trick to find out my ph when yellow is6.9 and I added a spoon full of ph down and retested water same color so I really can only tell thw feed isnt above 6.9. So my only worry is the smell in flower if I come home and the second I walk into my hallway I smell something im gonna neex to invest in a filter or something im in a apartment so I need to mask smell since I cant install a vent to vent it outside

If you're in a tent you can buy a carbon filter. I have a Phresh in my 4x4x7(tall) tent for photosensitives. Wow, it's amazing how well it works with 7-12 plants. My single autoflower is in an unsealed tent. It doesn't smell strong enough to concern me.

If I were in an apartment and concerned, I'd try OnaGel. A guy at the hydroponics store explained it to me. It's rubbery gelatin bits in a jar. You rehydrate it once a week(?), and rejuvinate it occasionally with some Ona liquid stuff. He said it works really well. Said it's more than just masking odors, but somehow exchanging ions, pulling odors into the released fragrance. For $10-$20, I'd try that for just one plant.

Edit: If you do a 4" or 6" filter, be sure to invest in a "dimmer" like thing to reduce the speed of your inline fan. I bought a 6" Hydrofarm Active Air fan. That thing moves *far* more air than is necessary for my tent. I ended up investing $55 in a "variac" to control the fan. It's quieter and supposed to not be as much of a strain on the fan's motor like one of those "dimmer" things. The variac changes the voltage. The dimmer changes the AC current's wave shape, chopping the tops off. Anyway, slowing the fan down will cause the filter to last longer (processing less air). It's just a matter of whether you want to spend $20 or $55. The variac is quiet. I run mine between 45v and 60v. That moves enough air for a 4x4x7 tent. (60v more when the lights are on.).

I use ona gel and it does work but it smells like fabric softener, not bad just noticable. I keep my grow in the garage so no one really pays it too much mind.
I think those pool ph testers dont have enough color variation to really narrow done ph and are subject to going bad ( fluid wise )

Do you use the green "Linen" or the blue "Pro?" The guy at the hydroponics store said he preferred one that's unscented. I believe it was the "Pro."

ive used both,the unscented still has a "scent", its hard to explain but you do notice it. its subtle. ridht now I have the linen and you smell it right away,not overpowering though. it could totally pass for room air freshener. Ive found that I have to start using them about a month into each grow ( could be me being paranoid about smell too ) and they do last a couple of months
