Hi AFN,
A while back I went through a cigar smoking phase, and found a website called "CigarPass" where guys would arrange to 'pass' cigars to one another through the mail. A box would be sent from one person containing say 5 cigars, then the first person in the chain to receive the box would pick one or two cigars out of the selection that they wanted to try, then replace them with one or two different varieties -- back in the box and then mailed to the next person in the chain. It would continue as such until the box was returned to the original person, and of course his original 5 cigars are now combination of contributions from people all over the country...
Now, I'm not advocating this, but I thought, maybe between cannabis-friendly states or after the laws continue to bend some more, that this kind of thing might be cool to try with seeds. Again, I'm not suggesting anyone throwing their addresses around, especially if they've documented grows on here and are not in a weed-frendly environment...And maybe it would be only reasonable to think about doing it with Post Office Box numbers rather than home addresses.
Anyway, hypothetically I thought it would be cool to ship out an envelope of five or ten different seeds, all in their separate bags with labels, to a chain of people, expecting to get a wide variety of seeds back for starting it off and then also giving everyone in the chain a chance to try some different seeds out. The "Bean Pass" could be documented on this site, as well as some pictures of the aftermath -- all the nice buds coming from the various setups of AFN members.
It would certainly have to stay within a particular country though, and the cigar pass worked the same way. I thought it might be doable since shipping seeds through the post is pretty common anyway (within the same country especially), though revealing one's address is a bit more touchy. However, with trusted long-time members in compassionate places (and in private conversation) I think this would be a pretty cool and communal idea!
What does AFN think?
