Life is Free

Genes Matter

An exceptional Blue Himalaya pheno. Tall (17" and I bent the stem 90 degrees at 5-6 weeks), hyper lemon/lime aroma after rubbing the buds and smelling the sticky fragrance. Pretty big buds all around, the main cola will be about the size of a water bottle, and the others are at least golf ball.

I am now a believer in genetics. This could also be using a taller pot of the same volume, but I can't say that for sure, but I do have two tall specimens since I switched to a taller pot.

All my BH genetics are from one cross, because for some reason I only got 1 female out of 10 regular beans.

But the plants that have resulted from this show such variation in every aspect.

I have now inbred to the third generation, got some more beans.

What would I call this generation? I do plan to start mixing with other strains now that I have pollen.

Sweet Skunks and Speed+ are now starting to get their bloom on, and I have a mutant Mohan Ram that is doing the three leaves per node thing, I think. She's just starting to get some personality and shift into flowering. I'll let her grow without any training to see what happens, I feel like I am blessed with this genetic standout.

And 2 x Green Poison at around 2 weeks...it's gonna be a Sweet Seeds Summer up in he-ah!

WTG Kalyx looks like happy time is just around the corner:dance:

Let me answer with pictures...

Sweet Seeds Selections

Crappy garden shot, I just moved the big skunk on the right to the front so I could drool at all the crystals already formed when I'm baked. I mean, so they could get light from all possible angles. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Speed+ - I wanna say about 6 weeks old, I stopped keeping tabs of dates a while ago

Sweet Skunk #1

Mohan Ram with Triploid Spiral growth pattern, starting to get her adolescent growth spurt on, some nice fat leaves. This strain is White Widow automatic x Sweet Afghani Delicious. What's not to love, this one will be a monster I can tell. Very strong genes, pleasing to the instinctual eye.

Sweet Skunk #2 - I wanna say 8 weeks? 9 week? I think she got delayed a couple weeks, I just go by maturity now, and try to remember to plant new beans, but having some odd germ issues lately...ramble...

2012-08-05 14-10-16.576.jpg2012-08-05 14-11-45.063.jpg2012-08-05 14-12-59.730.jpg2012-08-05 14-13-43.959.jpg

Super frosty and this girl is only just starting to fatten up. This is a superior strain for sure, the smell is very exotic, it keeps changing on me, sweet and incense.

Skunk, in this case, is an idea, an Indica/Sativa with a skunky smell. ut that's open to interpretation, and this is Sweet Seeds' homage to Skunk. I'm learning and appreciating the history of modern cannabis as I go, always been fascinated since a teenager reading High Times...alas I could not really start growing until now, but it's more than I could have ever expected, I feel so blessed to watch this process unfold.

I really like the sativa influence in the nice, long, thin leaves, but the overall structure is productive. I did my crimp 'n tie method, I'm pretty sure that set them back a couple weeks, but I have ltd. vertical height, the lights hang from a point 5' from the ground, so I gotta make do.

I like how vigorous the Sweet Seeds are, and plenty of branching. I will let my next few plants go au naturale, I'm not convinced yet that training is necessarily worth it.

I like being able to try different methods to see what happens. As long as I water them and take care of deficiencies, which seems to be happening for the first time, perhaps I've become too conservative since my soil is pretty rich.

Question:

Skunk #2 is showing a little bit of yellowing on top...color change...is that deficiency? I had a few yellow leaves down below and general N deficiency all around, so I did a couple doses of fish and they seem OK. Been giving them a little bit of my flowering liquid fertilizer, which I think is 5-26-15. I may have had some burn issues with this nute at ~5ml per 2-3l watering can...but not absolutely sure.

Should I just keep adding moderate amounts of the flowering nutes? It has 5 for N. I also have fish and seaweed. I could get an organic flowering brown stinky goop, but it's not super high in P and K, but not bad either. Maybe I should buy another bottle of that stuff. That's about it until I can find bat guano, and one friend did claim to know where to get it...don't have Loews or Home de Pot here....yet.
