I myself am not fond of the water cure as it will change good bud into washed out rag weed.
I have smoked water cured Bud before , its nasty imo !
I had not heard that you can remove the excess fertilizer by soaking in water , good tip !
A person could clean up some toxic weed before making oil , I like that !
Bubble hash is water cured and taste wonderful , it certainly works for concentrates !
For me
I would not be washing Bud *unless* I was making oil from Bud because it was over fertilized.
I suggest if you want to try it with good Bud , try it with a small amount first as you may make bunk out of it.
For oil its a win (imo)

I water cure, learned that little trick back in the late 80s (I am old). Just started the cut off tops of my farthest along plants. Perfect timing as I am 8 days out from my supply being gone. My experience:
Dark and uncovered, fully submerged, 65-70f, 7 days. Easiest for me is a bottom drain cooler with some mesh or screen stuck on it. So simple even a crazy person can do it!
I understand why water curing isn't more widely known as most l33t growing knowledge comes out of the grow for $ community. You loose a bit of baggy appeal and the weight is a bit lower that air dry. But for medical use, especially cooking? Great way to go. Also so much simpler and faster! I live way up in the high desert mountains so the dry after the cure this time of year is an afternoon in the sun for me. 7 days in the water, 1/2 day drying, and a 1/2 day decarbing and cooking.
I have read accounts of loosely wrapping buds in foil for the water cure giving a nicer appearance. I tried it once; perhaps there is a learning curve or I used the wrong strain? Water curing strains with interesting colored hairs gives a nicer appearance than otherwise as the green fails and the color "pops"!
While I do keep some to vape >90% becomes coconut oil so the appearance isn't a big deal to me.

Please tell me what water does to allow plant to finish its photosynthesis and gas release process..ie "curing"

Well what is dubbed thay, is to let the buds continue to use up its nute conversion and finish off what processes it has energy to perform...gets rid of the "green" smell.. chlorophyll odor..ozone smell... Like letting a slight orange tomato ripen the rest on a window sill.
What does drowning it do? And how does that mimic nature? Sounds like somebody who first tried this, smoked way to much beforehand...

Hey slideshow, im no expert but i tried it with some brooklyn sunshine and it worked great for cooking purposes but not for smoking. I made oil out of it and you could not tell by smell or appearance, taste is very minimal and only if you shake it up and get the minor particles off the bottom. Pretty potent oil. I think chemistry wise the difference in potential between plain water and whats in the plants pulls out the nutrients and such over time. Osmosis and stuff.

... Next thing you know they'll be telling us we can make hash with dry ice and rosin with a set of hair straightners
