Does anyone on here in the UK feel scared about how far her ambition to spy on browser histories or mobile devices can go?

Under her proposed law she will give the Police powers to find out alllll about you and not tell you or need permission to do so, with a year backlog. That means anything you've bought or sold, looked at or written online, including emails and texts, will be available to the man.

Scared?
No.

Determined to effect change and political reform through education and awakening of consciousness of the people?
Yes.

We are the 99%.
BUT only when we're united.

When we, the people, are divided, a unified and focused 1% is easily the political majority.

i hope this happens.then maybe we will be able to get shot of a few more MP's that send pictures of their todgers to wee girls.
:pighug:

Tbh honest, I think it's going to be more aimed to terrorism and prevention of extremism.
I wasn't too pleased when I heard about snoopers charter getting passed. But in the grand scheme of things, if you're worried about them spying for growing etc, police forces are stretched enough in the UK. I very much doubt they will start snooping on grows etc to try and arrest and charge.
Although it does move more towards a Orwellian state which is never good.
Who knows.
Politics as a whole in the uk at the moment is in a very strange place.

But there-in lies the problem.

Theresa May has enclosed 'political opposition', 'dissidence', and 'protest' [even peaceful] as 'domestic extremism'.

What IS democracy without political opposition and debate?
What IS a UK without the freedom to disagree with parliament and expression of dissent?
What would 'western democracy' and the advancement of individual rights have been throughout history, if not for political expression through political protest? Organised marches, and socially motivated rallies?

Theresa May, as Home Secretary, threw a carcinogenic blanket of damnation over all of these necessary aspects of a functioning democracy, by labelling them all 'extremist' activities.

What you raise as 'prevention of terrorism' can now also include the suppression of political dissent, which includes freedom of speech and peaceful protest.

... that can never be construed as a sign of a healthy, functioning, representative democracy.

mate you need to stop reading mainstream media we started the wars trained the terrorist and supply most the middle east with arms keep the people scared and you can get away with almost anything J.C for prime minister :pighug:

Lol don't follow any mainstream media. Complete rubbish. Just stating the snoopers charter is being sold to general public as a weapon against extremism/terrorism, who knows what it's actually going to be used for.

Yes we started Iraq war, America created Al Qaeda, trained Osama bin laden for their own personal gain, but if you look at the situation in Syria at the moment it's more complicated. The best thing would have been for everybody to support one group, not everybody support somebody different. US UK support FSA, Russia supports Assad. Assad fighting FSA.
It's a crazy situation.

To be totally honest, I've lost faith in British political system over the past few months, started with run up to referendum and everything just got considerably worse after the referendum. What the Labour Party have tried to do to JC is just ridiculous. Hoping for general election shortly, not that it will happen.

Yea I avoid mainstream at all costs! It's true what you say about pot heads knowing better :)

JC is stuck between a rock and a hard place, as was made clearer yesterday with the trident vote. He has engaged a lot of young people into politics which is what is needed. I'm only 25 myself but had a very keen interest in politics for a lot of years, and he is a breath of fresh air into politics. One man I detest is Tony Blair, even more so (if possible) since the Chilcot report.
The other two who are running for leadership don't stand a chance against JC, and that whole shit with the £25 to vote is absolutely ridiculous.

It's been a pretty horrendous 5 days in the world. I honestly don't know what to think any more. It's extremely worrying. I don't know what's happened to people just getting along with each other. The mind completely boggles!

But you're right, follow the money [emoji106]

Happy hottest day of the year :D :smoke:
