Hello folks,

for my second grow I will be attempting to hit 100-150g from 1 TD plant. I was hoping I could get advice on how best to do this, with the nutes and equipment I have.

My tent is 60cmx60cmx120cm so it's relatively compact but should (hopefully) be enough for a single TD plant. I have a 400w HPS dual spectrum light with a digital ballast that can be switched between 250w and 400w, with the size of the tent and a single plant, would 250w be enough or is 400w better? I have read that plants can only take so much light so I am wondering if 250w would be enough and 400w be a waste?

I have a 5" RUCK fan with a Rhino filter, 2 relatively powerful mini oscillating fans, 2x120mm powerful PC fans pulling air in to the tent. Temps do vary widely at different parts of the tent, the HPS light is in a cooltube with the RUCK fan pulling air away from the light, temps (at 400w) right beside the cool tube is about 97f, 6" away its about 76-82f. My guess is to keep the light 6" away from the plant at all times, further away when still in its infancy. Again, if 250w is more than enough for a single TD then the temps will probably be a good 10f less.

I have the following nutes on hand, but can purchase anything else that is recommended.

  • BioBizz Grow
  • BioBizz Bloom
  • Advanced Nutrients Big Bud
  • Plageron Bat Guano
  • Meridian Organic (un-sulfured) Molasses
  • Epsom Salts

I have not bought soil yet but I have about 15ltr of Plageron Light Mix left if this is suitable. I have different size pots and wondered which would be best.

I have 11ltr square pots which is better for me in terms of height due the tent restrictions, but I have 10ltr air pots which are quite a bit taller than the 11ltr pots I have, plus I found them a pain to water.

Another thing I found with the airpots is the soil seemed to get very compact, I don't know if it was the soil itself or the pot causing this?

I have read that TD like a bigger pot, 20ltr but this might be too tall for my tent... would 11ltr be sufficient?

So with all this information, could someone give me a run down on how best to use the nutes from day 1 to the end, which power of light (250 or 400w) and size of pot.

Many thanks.

One way to get around your height issue would be to use a ScrOG. that way you could use bigger sized pots. personally i would go for a larger light say 600w if you are after bigger yeilds. :peace: Hazy

Hi Hazy,

I actually have some chicken wire that I could use but it's only 1" spacing, I could cut it out a little to make bigger holes. How far above the top of the pot should the ScrOG be?

I can't go up to 600w as the tent is too small to control the heat, the cooltube and ballast are brand new so 400w is my max. Down the line I will think about a new setup.

As far as nutes, follow the manufacture direction but only go 1/2 strengh at first and don't start until you have a least three or four sets of leaves.Use the biogro until the vert growth has stopped ,then cchange to your bloom nutes. Use the biggest light you have and pots around three gal are good.Make sure you watch your PH, this is very important especially if your using synthetic nutes.

I would agree with scrogging if height is a concern. LST her over when she's young, then start weaving her in to the scrog. Hit up Taviddude for advice on scrogging TD, he just did a monstrous fill and drain grow that yielded a silly, comically oversized pile of bud.

Hello namvet25,

BioBizz nutes are organic but I will be PHing water and feeds to 6.3. My first grow I had my PH at 6.8 and it may of caused some issues with my plant... you can see it over HERE

I will be starting my TD grow in the about 3 weeks time so I have enough time to get some good advice from you guys. I know there's plenty on here but not with the exact combination of nutes I have.

Thanks!

low_and_slow, I have PM Taviddude to see if they can offer some advice in this thread.

As I said before, I have chicken wire but it's only like 1" spacing but I can cut the spaces to allow for the buds to pop through.

I just need to find out how high the ScrOG needs to be above the top of the pot and how to actually use the method effectively. Do you just bend the branches further out so the height is uniform across the top? So if the branch is X length, it is moved enough to the side to allow the bud to poke out the top, if the actual branch grows, you bend it further away from the base to the bud is still just poking out the top?

Thanks!

Hay man I think you will do just fine,I got 107 grams in a 6L Airpot under 120w LED and I know OhJay got 270 grams from a TD in a 6L pot grown in coco under 400w sodium.

With bio bizz dont use chemical ph up or down as it kills the micro life within the mix... Aslong as it goes in between 6.2 and 7.0 the soil will buffer the rest (only if using bio bizz light mix)
As far as using bio bizz products, use the bio grow till vertical growth stops but then when you change to the bloom nutes still give the bio grow but at only 1ml per litre of feed..

Thanks for the info, I hope to get at least 100g, anymore would be a bonus!

This is possibly another reason why my first grow has some issues... I have been buffering the feeds/water with phUp/Down which is chemical based. The water here is a little odd, when PH straight from the tap it's about 7.4 but if left out for a couple days it goes up to 8.2... now if I am using BioBizz, what can I use to bring the PH inline?

When I PH the water after putting in say 3ml of grow and 3ml of bloom, the PH is about 5.2 if I recall correctly.

Thanks.
