Lighting Thinking of switching to LED

Hey guys/gals. I'm thinking of switching from HPS to LED for my next grow but can't find a definitive answer on what light would suit my criteria.

I've done several grows using a basic 600w HPS, cooltube and mid-range reflector. This has given me satisfactory results with yields of approximately 12-16oz from each grow. That's in a 1.2x1.2x6m tent with soil and a minimum amount of effort. Granted some of the lower bud is airy but it's still fine to smoke and make hash from so I'm more than satisfied with it.

If I decide to do another grow I'd like to try LED. Power is very expensive where I live and I rent a small house where the heat and noise from fans are my biggest concerns. I'm hoping the LED would be cooler and therefore require less noisy fans for extraction.

What lights would give me similar/better results to my HPS? I would have an absolute max of €500 to spend and I don't mind having to buy multiple lights, order from ebay, etc. This would be one of my last, if not my last grow so a light that will last 10 years isn't really necessary. I've been looking at Vipar and other chinese lights. Would maybe 2 of those give me the same results as a 600w HPS?

So I've been doing lots more reading and I can get the mars 2 900w or 1200w with that budget. I'm drawn to the 900w due to the lower power consumption. Does anyone here have a 900 or 1200w in a 4x4 tent?

Better 2x 900w then 1x1200w. I'm new to LED's too bro but if they work (550w of led vs 600w hps) the hell with hps.. And don't see you making a better deal with 500€ then 2 mars pannels. I don't have Mars but growers seem to love 'em.

I would go with 2 squares instead of one panel... You get a better footprint.. Im trying the suspect /HydroSTAR led from eBay. 5w diodes with 150 pcs... 90 and 120 degree optic lens... 2 heat sinks.. 2 fans... Buddy of mine has 8 in his bloom room for 7 months w/o zero fails! The single light is like 132 bucks... But im getting 2 of them for my 4x4x7 tent! Mars and the Mars 2 seem to be exceptional leds as well! At first I was honestly thinking about getting 2 700 Mars 2s.. But then I seen the actual grow results for the hydrostar and I said shoot... Cheapest isn't always the best but right now it is because I've already spent a crap load switching from my closet and cfls to a grow tent. Take your time and research each light before you buy... Ask questions and read reviews and specs!

For UK buyers, I would check out ebay.de. With the Sterling presently reaching lofty heights, it could be worthwhile.

Check out TOPLEDSELLER, same company as Marshydro, I bought 2 x 500w LED's with 5w diodes for 325 Euro = £237 at the time of writing, including shipping to the Netherlands. This was a suggest price deal that was accepted to my surprise.

They work, my plants tell me, all 5 above 95 cm at day 56, and it is my first grow. 3 x auto Frisian Dew and 2 x Think different.
