I really planned to lurk in the shadows a bit longer before I expose my foolishness for all to see. But after a warm reception to my introduction, and now some fading/curl on the leaves, I throw myself to your mercy.

Quick overview:
Room size 50 sq ft. 6'8"x7'6"x7'6"

1000w magnetic ballast
cheap generic wing reflector
hortilux 1000w Super HPS
6x24" phresh filter
6" can fan
6" inline muffler

seeds start under individual CFLs 6500k
only 26w now...I'm sure I need the 33w, or maybe 42. But to spend a little more, I could go to LEDs.

3 gallon plastic pots
soil mix of 2/3 happy frog:1/3 ocean forest

I'm using the freebie seeds that came with my order.
x2 Royal Queen - Critical
x4 WoS - NLBB

In hindsight, I probably didn't mix the soil well enough. The container I used was on the small size for the job.
As I filled pots, added a few inches of soil, a splash of water, more soil, more water...I did not rinse when filled as I've seen some suggest. Along with the inadequate soil mixing, I've most likely got a few hot spots.

June 12 started seeds in paper towel, moved to pots after shells cracked.
June 17 - DAY 1
actually, 1 on the 16th, 4 the 17th, & 1 the 18th.
6 for 6 WooHoo! Off to a good start!

named in the order they popped above ground.
1 thru 6
1&2 are Critical
4-6 NLBB
Seed 6 was noticeably smaller than the rest.

DAY 7

image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

Top row 1,2,3
Bottom 4,5,6
the Criticals, 1&2 start to look a little faded in the middle.
NLBB 5 may have hit one of those hot spots mentioned earlier. The cotyledons look to have some burn.

Watered with a few oz. of tap water thru a Britta pitcher filter. Unfiltered my tap has a pH of 9.0. Out of the pitcher it is 6.0.

DAY 10

ummm...now what have I done? This is getting away from me.
Hang on folks, technical difficulty.

DAY 10
#1 is up there^^^
image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
#2-6
watered on day 8 w/about 8 oz each
#3 shows a touch of burn.

Not mentioned before:
Temp. 79
RH. 80%
small fan blowing over tops

DAY 11
image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

1-3 all look to be fading in color.
1 is curling up a bit.
5 had an issue. The second set of leaves were conjoined at the stem, with no space for the next set to come out. Yesterday, I pulled them apart, she looks a little better today. Also her stem at the ground is still quite thin.
6 still the runt, but gaining ground.

About the fade and curl...
my temp/humidity seem ok.
trying to be conscience not to over water
all still under the 26w CFL, tops 2" from the bulb, 24 hrs on.
only rated 1600 lumens...am I starving them?

Looks pretty good to me! I'm no expert, but did see a little burn tip on one of the ladies so you are probably spot on re. hot spots in the soil. I am about 2/3 through my first grow and they are doing well in spite of me. Your gals will be fine I bet. Let the experts chime in, lots of great advice here! Cheers!

80% seems like pretty high humidity to me, but I'm growing at 26-35% most of the time :)

But only 2 of the kiddos are exhibiting significant up curl....

Hey man great start to your grow. Like Tapper50cal said you Rh% is a bit too high. try get it around 50 - 60 % for veg and between 40 - 50 % in flower. Looking great by the way and im going to sub up if you dont mind man.

"Munch..munch..munch I'm here for the show, if ya don't mind, Mr. Foolery! In pic #3, she's showing pretty much the same burnt tip my lil lady showed 13 days after sprouting, and I still haven't started her feeding yet. 2 days later sh seems to have made it out alright, with no signs of any lingering effect, so IMO, you should be OK.

This is just a bunch of Tom Foolery Growing on in here.

:coffee2:

Nice start to them kids

I will sub up on this one

Hope to see big things here

DAY 11
Turned the dehumidifier on. Got the RH down to the 50-60% range, as suggested. Thanks!
Took the girls outside for some natural light. My back yard is somewhat wooded, but I get a good light on the back deck from noon until 4ish. They also got their first real watering. 1 liter each. It's the first time w/any run off.
Water was filtered pH 6.0
with some cal mag and molasses, 3/4 tsp:gal
DAY 12
In light of the soil mixing be less than thorough, and this being the first time it was actually saturated, I was not surprised to see some burn today.
Another afternoon in the sun, and the new growth looks good.

Pictures aren't cooperating....
There's the problem. They all fell over onto their side. At least they're there now. Best I can do.

Pictures weren't cooperating with me either, so now I use imgur. Highly recommended.

I hope the burn clears up!
