So I'm wondering if more light is necessary. I have a 600w bulb on an adjustable ballast (50%, 75%, 100%). Pictured is my grow setup in 4x4 tent. I typically grow 3-4 auto at a time. So the tent is never "full." Currently I have it set at 75% so 450w.

So is the full 600w necessary would it just be wasting electric or would it actually help yields? If it would help would it only be necessary late in the grow?

For 600w -> 60cm - 120m above the canope during veg, 60 - 80 cm during flow.
For 400w-> 40cm - 80cm above the canope during veg, 40 - 60cm during flow.

So yes your light might me a little close for now.

Thanks the input. I understand the light has to be at different distance for 400 vs 600 but I'm wondering if 600 is worth it and/or necessary for my type of setup and grows.

It will increase your yield. More Light = Bigger Buds !

I run just over 1000 wts of mixed HPS & LED Lights in a 4 x 4 tent.... and I may add some more yet....

600wt is the very minimum for your tent, in my view.

I think the general rule is more watts = more buds. I would just run it at 600W since you have it.

General rule is 1w=1g in bud. More light - bigger yield.
