Self watering Tray2Grow experiment 👀

@PeaceLove&Buds

You're gonna have to be very careful with your root growth in this system!:grrr2:

Air pruning just creates more roots! More roots, more air pruning, more roots!

You could have a runaway cycle and your pot go super critical!:what?:

Or with that much roots in one place, they could collapse on themselves and form a black hole!

You're really gonna have to get a handle on this root situation!:grrr2:

If you don't, you really could get a really huge girl with dense frosty nugs and you're going to be stuck in trim jail for a week!

:grin::cools::pass:

Day 55…like a guy who just quit cigarettes, they’re getting a little fatter each day. Fortunately that’s the entire update, no bad news to report. Im so happy I upgraded to a 5x5 tent jeez

Thanks for stopping by! ✌🏻

Roots would only go that crazy if they were happy period, they arent constantly in air as the are wet all the time . Auto pots says to use the pot sock to keep the roots from filling the reservoir . Its a non issue basically, if it bothers you put a sock on, if not no big deal, but there is no downside to the roots penetrating the bag unless you dont like it aesthetically. As always the phrase “bigger roots, bigger fruits” still apllies.
Yes roots into the water source/reservoir makes feeding more like DWC, less based on wicking.

I flat out asked Jeremy if he thought that the bed set up is like a large earth box in its very similar root structure that develops. I told him I thought it was better in one aspect.

Grassroots Living Soil Beds are plastic lined from a few inches below the top to 4 inches above the bottom. This 4 inches provides help with keeping the roots nice and healthy and also helps provide for air pruning. That's a lot of area.

But in Jeremy's side by side test of this system with Grassroots Living Soil Beds, The side that had very tight settings on the moisture and did not have any cyclical dry downs. It was quite dramatically different in size. I think the most dramatic part was the size of the main trunk. It was Dramatically larger.

On that girl he did not begin to attempt any crop steering until I believe mid flower. I think that's where that 4 inch dry down area at the bottom comes in handy. You can easily get a bit of dry down and air pruning, which only stimulates more root growth.

I think not giving any cyclical dry downs, with this particular setup, is a must during the vegetative stretch and then early flower stretch. As we say in drag racing,

I'm very impressed with how this is going. I was on the fence about getting a tray2grow thinking the plant might not get enough solution but this proves that wrong. I think its a game changer I mean you can add and remove plants simply. I moved away from autopots because of so many trays and valves to clean but this seems great. Would you have any cons with the system?

I would say not a con but only that it raises my tent humidity by about 5% on average.

Day 59…back right plant forum stomper x sour crack grew much larger than I anticipated considering sour crack is a tiny plant. But I’ve never grown forum stomper so I to assume it’s the dominant gene here. She’s really quite big, hard to discern in the jungle here but her left side is so fat that she was starting to lean left just a smidge so I went ahead and tied the main as a precaution. Starting to get excited about what these stacks will look like in late flower.
