Lighting TOPled The Manual.

Not trying to answer for TIna but 3 of any light are going to have a much bigger footprint than any single light. LEDs are usually focused tightly so distance from the source is a much bigger issue than HPS which sends it's light equally around in every direction.

Watt for watt most LEDs are going to have about the same efficiency. The difference lies in the diodes themselves; the higher quality the diode the more lumens per watt than a lower quality LED.

:peace:

Had been looking at Mars Hydro, as they seem to have a good reputation and following.. did they recently raise their prices or about the same?

This is a loaded question (sorry I'm new to this), but are there any users here that have used HPS/MH and then switched to an LED setup and have something to compare?

Sadly, I jumped in and bought an LED from amazon without doing a lot of research, and maybe it's OK, but was underpowered for area (again... newb)

I've thrown in an HID to keep my current (and first auto grow) batch going, but as I'm learning and reading that Auto's seem to do well with 24/0 or 20/4 or similar cycles.. the big dog HID I have is less than ideal for the pocket book :D

Any insight would be great!

Most serious LED'ers were HIDers at some point. They both work well, if you're considering LED what size space are you trying to light? that would give us a better idea as to what it would take.

Thanks for reply! I'm using a 4x4 tent right now..

Get a Mars 2 1200W. It's perfect for 4x4'! Try evening out the canopy with topping the 5th node early or chop the main shoot at around 30 days (redirects floral hormones). Topping early and bending will also work!

Was hoping to get 2 GN lights but out of my price range at the moment, but have seen and heard good things about the mars2 1200w so paid for one today should have it Monday :)

Thanks for the input, awesome!

OK, I'm familiar with some techniques, but thought the consensus was to leave auto's alone? I'll have to learn some more next round, as I've got cola's forming all over now, and didn't try to train or bend... (might run out of room in tent at this rate, ugh!!!!! :Woozy..?:) Some of the plants seem to get a lil leggy as I had kind of a weak light for a couple weeks...

Erm is the mars 1200 using over 600w? As a 600w hps is ideal in a 4x4 tent, have been thinking of changing to led and heard good things about marshydro/topled but at that power point is sort of defeating the object?

I have 2 mars reflector 96x3 and they give off the same as a 600w hps. They draw 170w each in growth and 200w in bloom so definately uses less power than a 600w hps
