New Grower Topping Autos...

Have a chj topped growing right now..she did not care at all.just kept growing..but pruning she did not like

Ya, it seems to me, if one were so inclined, that early on during the wait right before the growth spurt, would be a good time to top. Please don't do this based on my post! I am a newbie and this is def a postulation. As I was just waiting and waiting for my little auto to take off as they are prone to do, I thought man, if one were going to top a plant, now would be the time to do it. Again, I'm not sure, but I thought that time was spent making roots so to top it would not set it back as much as topping it while it was concentrating on growing veg up and out? Makes sense in theory.
Can't wait til my seed runs are over, I AM GOING TO TRY SO MANY DIFFERENT THINGS with all my free seeds!! Hell, I might grow 1 upside down like those crazy tomato plants on TV!! Why not?! It's not like I would have paid $10-$15 per seed or anything crazy like that...

To be honest I wouldn't top any plant so soon, photos or autos. This seed was a freebie. I agree tho with the time to actually top one if you would, the stretch might be a good time. Other than experimenting I wouldn't top an auto for s***s and giggles. Know what I mean? Just a little experiment

I was hoping being in a 32 oz container and topping her would produce somthin..lol

I was kind of thinking right before the stretch just because of what the plant is concentrating on which guessing, I would say the roots. Now that you mention though, it probably would be entirely too early in the life cycle to top a plant. This is why I am excited about finishing a seed run. Why not get the answers to all these questions when one has hundreds of autofem seeds sitting in front of one? Pop a few just to do a topping experiment. Pop a few to do a lighting or nute or soil experiment to really, really fine tune your grow based on the pile of seeds you now have.

What'd she do when you pruned her? And by pruned do you mean cut some leaves off at stem node or something more major? I ask because I just "defoliated" (cut some, a lot, of the cluttered up leaves off as close to stem as I could get) I can't say I noticed anything but then again I am in ripening phase I guess you could say.

How far behind an untopped plant do you think it is?

top on 2nd node= 2 colas 3rd node=6 colas 4=8 and 5th node = 10 colas.

Could you please describe a little more your point?

You mean to top it in serie, node after node? (In sequency)

I'd like to understand it better.

:-)

At least five weeks.. She is back there waving good-bye..lol
Do you think it stunted that bad?

By what you've described (from what I've understood), it stretched in two... but growth has been limited.

In a forum called growroom, there was that one guy who topped an auto, "cloned" that cuted stem and ended up with two plants. Achieving a nice harvest. Pretty amazing!

He had experiments revegging autos. What a ninja!

His reveged one wad ugly and weird, buds grew really awkward. But considering it as an option to develop genetics rather than buds, its an amazing technique!
A way to keep a mother and provide seeds.

If I remember well... he also said the indica phenos would reject HST more often than sativas.

I guess it might be related with sativas slower maturation... and longer vegetation.

Indica phenos seems to be good to lst... this sure increases sidebranching bud's development.

:)

Nice experiment, bro! [emoji106]
