Hello all! I have been searching and am having troubles finding info from people who have actually topped their auto's. Here's my story:
I have a cabinet that I am using like a lab. I am going to be doing some experimenting with feminization with colloidal silver. The dilemma is the cabinet is only two feet tall. I am not growing for production here, just pollen and seeds. I have a completely separate area to grow my "real meds" to full size. Looked into lst and tying but really what I want is just a small plant. I grow using hydro so a small pot is rather pointless. Just wondering how bad this will stunt the plant as well as any threats of hermie problems. Thanks to all in advance, I love this community:)

Forgot to mention that I'm only going to be growing one plant at a time. Thanks again, I really do appreciate any advice!

I'm an idiot today, sorry!! The strain I'm currently working with is World Of Seeds Northern Lights X Big Bud. I got many of these as freebies so I thought I would experiment with this first, even though I have had my fair share of Indica...:/. Also wondering how many nodes I should let grow, my photos I have let get to 3 or 4.

If ya check out the 32oz comp thread someone in there (excuse me for forgetting who) top their auto and completed the grow after topping... Who knows what yield could have been but didn't seem to affect it much to me... Normally I'd say NO to ever topping an auto, though since. These were freebies that you really said ya didn't care if you grew or not, than experiment, have fun... Don't be afraid to fuck it up, ya can always start a new one ;) wishing you the best of luck and looking forward to when you begin the journal on them

Generally speaking, topping isn't very effective for autos. It doesn't increase yields and sets the plants back about a week while they recover. LSTing would be a better option for your application. Tie it down so it grows more horizontally.

Lol.. Muddy you got in there just before me.. We're telling 2 different stories as well.. I can only say what happened with my girl I suppose..

nben.. Muddy knows his shit.. Listen to him... But check that thread of mine also.. :peace:

I had one of my goats nip the tops off of two plants a few years back right around week 3. One of them was the same pheno and size of one that didn't get nipped, so I was able to do a side by side. The yields from them were within a few grams of each other but the ones that had been topped did take longer. There are always the exceptions. Glad it worked out for you.

Them damn goats.. :crying: Eat everything in their path..

Do you not remember my Mazar Muddy? You sent me my BOM prize after she won.. (Ahem.. Landslide lol)

Can't remember how long she took though..

Wow! I hop in the shower to get ready for work and see all these responses! Thanks guys!!!! I think I will let it grow to 3 nodes and lop the top off... See how it goes, I will report back here. Today starts the beginning of the second week of growth so there will be some time that passes before it gets to that point. My first seed failed to germ so I got held back a week or so.... Being that I actually want a small plant this seems to be the answer, as far as height goes. I will be treating the thing with CS at the same time so I will be worried about hermie stress also....
