New Grower Trapper's Scrimmage Grow (Semi-Micro)

So, Quick question/Confirmation.....

If you look at these pics, the smallest leaves that emit from the bud area itself and the immediate vicinity are darker
and curling under like eagle or hawk talons.

I have seen other plants do this, I've seen some other Dark Devils do this (R.Redneck's being a perfect example)

I'm led to believe that this isn't a deficiency or an overabundance of nutrients or a pH or general health issue, but that this is a genetic trait of this particular phenotype.....

Can anyone with experience shed light on this situation?

Thanks in advance for any input! :) Cheers!

Hey, Trapper.
My SDH did that from the get go, and I do believe it was genetics (my wonderful, twisted little Freak:xlaugh:). I don't think its very common, though, especially to start showing at this point.
Typically, it's a sign of too much N.
What's your feed schedule looking like right now? How much and how often?

I noticed it the most on the last "alive" shots of your Dark Devil main cola...

My feed is not N heavy...only N is in the Equilibrium Cal/Mag and the Tiger Bloom

I'm running Big Bloom (.01-.3-.7)
Tiger Bloom (2-8-4)
Equilibrium (1-1-2)

I've cut the Grow Big out a while back.

I'm running generally 1/4 strength across the board. Every other feeding - Span of 40 hours between feedings - 2200-2300ml with about 15-20% run-off.
I'm on the 4th feeding at these times and volumes...before I was watering less volume but more frequently....1400-1600ml daily 24 hour intervals.

Thanks for looking in!

EDIT: I've done some other searching and reading and I have found chatter that supports the idea that it is a genetic characteristic of some Sativa-dom phenos
which this girl certainly seems to be...:)

It may be just what they do, then, Trapper. :dunno:
I was really pushing those DD's at the end, doing that side by side, so I just figured it was a feed issue.
I think GoAuto6 grew some out... ya might want to ask him.
Personally, I'm thinking it's no big deal.
Check out this grow: https://www.autoflower.org/f142/[thor]-dark-devil-sweet-seeds-soil-28167-2.html, post #33.
Off to bed, Brother, have a good night!

Thanks man, I certainly don't want to seem like I'm pushing for a particular assessment/diagnosis....I think I'm just hoping it's normal to the pheno. :)

Night, man!

Wow...good link on N clawing. Seems like some that exhibit full health elsewhere are just experiencing either pheno-based or mild N claw and others
are experiencing full blown N claw to all the leaves. Hopefully, if I'm careful and make sure to continue dialing it back, it looks like it's a non-issue:)

You know, come to think of it though, I have been running the Cal/Mag every time though...nutes or not. I may back off the Cal/Mag a bit too.
I certainly am not experiencing any Cal/Mag deficiencies at the moment, just been using it preventatively. hmmmmm....

PPS: The Pawn is getting the same feed (albeit smaller volumes) and not clawing at all....hmmmmmm2X......

I'm going to proceed in a manner consistent with N toxicity for a couple feeds...

Last feed was large (2300ml) and had no tiger, only Big Bloom and Cal/Mag...

Tomorrow night is the next feed and I will do only Big Bloom, Molasses and a super small amount of Beastie Bloomz (0-50-30)

I figure if the Cal/Mag (1-1-2) has been over used and I AM experiencing N toxicity, then cutting it out (along with No Tiger Bloom) and augmenting with molasses will help level out the N

If it ISN'T N toxicity, I'll still have most of my bases covered as to avoid any other deficiencies...

Play it like this for a couple cycles and see if the clawing subsides. (With those nutes only every other feed)

The only x-factor will be whether or not I experience N deficiency as a result of pulling most of the N out...if so, I'll re-introduce the Cal/Mag (1-1-2) and go from there.

Hope it gets worked out Trap! Flowers are still looking good.

Let's make sure I successfully get it to the finish line :) We'll see how she looks in 4 weeks...(man, I can't wait)

You said it brother. I'm learning Shaolin Monk patience with these plants lol.

My LA Confi photo plant does the same. I think its the phenotype. I got the boring but resy green hawk claw buds.
