hi can anyone tell me if it is ok
to cut off fan leaves that are blocking
the light for the buds, or just try to tuck,
thanks

I would try to tuck every thing I could the plant uses those leves in the end to finish out.

Touchy issue for sure! I advise tucking whenever possible. And absolutely tuck if the leaves are towards the top of the plant. They look awkward at first but in a day or two they grow so fast the plant just grows to look normal again.

That being said as the plant matures I usually take off the very bottom scraggly branches and any shoots that are growing towards the center and are well under the canopy. You will see after a few grows which parts of the plant will just produce larf (popcorn buds). I wait until the initial stretch/fast growth is done before considering anything to be trimmed however.

I leave the leaves alone. They will start to die off on their own, and when they start to look really bad I remove them as well. Truthfully by the time the plant is getting that mature they will probably just fall off with a brush of the hand or a very tiny tug. The theory here is that the leaves are "solar panels" for energy and metabolism, as well as storage areas for the plant's nutrients.

Hope this helps! Green Karma Cloud on it's way to you :)

Some think it does help and some think the stress out ways the benefit of light penetration,I myself do it on certain plants if there bushy enough,if you look at the cheese and OG diary I'm running you will see I have 2 phenotypes one of which has had most of the main fans taken off, have a look see of you can tell if it's been stressed.

If it needs doing - it needs doing. When the stretch is happening I start removing anything that blocks a bud site, anything that's dying & anything that is stopping good airflow. Only removing what is needed - so some can just be tucked. I noticed no signs of stress or slowing down - my current Girls continued gaining an inch + per day & are bang on schedule.

Over 10 days I removed at least half a garden sack full & now i have more tops than i can count lol. This has worked on photo period plants & my current auto grow. It's probably not something that should be done unless they are already healthy & I always take a bit less the first few times - just in case.

I personally tend to clip pieces of the leaves exposing light to the lower growth verses taking whole fans but that n tucking i personally like for my style.mimics natural responses in the plant when trimmed pieces of leaves come off by scabbing over as it were.

Tuck before you pluck. Do it sparingly if you have to, those leaves have a use

There are a lot if arguments, its best to leave everything alone and let it grow natural. But something I've thought about is, if you can remove the top cola and lower buds still mature with out any problems I'd think removing fan leaves would be that big of deal. I have s theory on all this but I have not proven it yet so I'm going to stick with the best advice and say tuck em.:Sharing One:
