New Grower Trimming during flowering, so many opinions???

Ok so I am a new grower and learnt everything I know from reading books and forums...

I was looking up flowering stages in various threads and guides some advising to never trim autos as they are too small, where as others were stating to trim to promote healthy buds...

Is it dependant on strain, general plant well being, on the set up or is it simply personal preference to trim or not to??

I am very cautious as to cutting my plant as I read up and attempted FIMing the top but didnt cut down enough and just ended up with chopped leaves after they grew through and didnt want to stress the plant anymore...

So any advice on when you would or wouldnt trim your plant in flowering or maybe results to prove why you should or shouldnt trim...

I wouldn't do any trimming on your first grow,just keep it simple for now and once you get some grow experiance you can play with trimming and topping.

Alot of the info stating never too trim an autoflower are mainly old threads we have come along way with the Autoflower cannabis and its now down to personal preference. I my self always trim my girls to let more light through, i dont usualy do this till after they start flowering and most of the explosive growth has finished:smokebuds:

I remove most of the tiny bud sites and leafs that are blocking most of the light but i make sure i leaves some bigger leaves on each branch..there are alot of other growers doing the same thing with fantastic results. Autoflowers are getting alot tougher now so they dont stress as easy as they used too good luck bro Si

If you are worried your budsites aren't getting enough light you can gently tuck your bigger fan leaves out of the way.

Thanks that seems most logical to me in my situation... Dont wanna cause unneeded stress even if the autos are getting stronger as Namvet said with being a first timer get experience before trimming...

Remember when tucking leaves to make sure your pots are not dry stems will snap very easy.If when you bend them down they feel tight then leave them an hour or so and do a little more. I have at the moment 1 plant that the stems break very easy and one that you need to get the tow rope out to gt them where i want them: Good luck bro and happy toking :smokebuds::smokebuds:

Nah I moved a few bigger fan leaves around but done it so they arent blocking light to lower bud sites but hasnt damaged the stem and keeps the fan leaves in good light... Will bear in mind next time I move them... So bend as much as the flex will allow it...secure it and leave for an hour before repeating process until they are out the way??

Tuck or light lst action. There shouldn't be so many opinions on this subject when it comes to autos. It has been proven time and time again that trimming hampers yield. Not just on my grows but on countless journals on here. Its why photo guys usually give up on their one auto freebie they got with their order. Hell trimming is why alot of people find this site. After killing a few autos trying to grow em like a photo they search and find this place. In my best Mister Hand voice "trimming is bad" "topping is bad" .......but just for autos children. :smoke: save the scissors for the chop. Then get really mean and come at it with fire

Does anyone have any references to verify any type of improved growth from trimming mj, or any other plant? Not growing the way we want, but actual improved growth. Ive never really understood increased flower growth coming from removing the plants power producers. I understand trimming top branches causes side branches to grow, side branches trimmed will make the top grow, FIM causing multiple tops ect. But that removing fan leaves, or any leaf, makes better flower growth. I just cant understand remkving some of the largest surface areas for light collection and photosynthesis causing increased buddevelopment. It seems to go against my "common" sence. Like removing the popcorn bud would go further to fattening up other buds. Its hard to really do a test on auto like photos. You cant take a cut that is the same length with the same number of leaves and do a side by side.
