Wow these autos really grow quick are the nodes always that spread out?

Node space is mostly determined by genetics and distance if lights from the plants. The close you can keep the light without burning the plants the shorter you nodes will be but the farther you keep your light the more spread out your nodes will be. I also notices CFls make for plants with more spread out nodes compared to other lights.
