Has anybody tried the cheapo unbranded LED lights off ebay - I know you generally get what you pay for but I am looking at using these as a secondary light source.

Please see the item in the link below -

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371663003882

I would be interested in any feedback

Using tips

1. Suitable for hydroponics, horticulture, green house
2. Suitable for plants growing, flowering and fruiting
3. Lighting Time setup: Vegetative Stage: 12-14 hours on; Flowering Stage: 9-12 hours on. Fruiting Stage: 7- 8 hours on
4. Suggest distance above plants: 1.5-2.5m

My whole tent is 1.6m... :crying:

If information is correct, than this light is better than Mars. But you know, ebay...
Too bad they don't show PPAR and coverage charts...

I'm not relying on the info they are providing hence me asking the community for their experiences . I am not overly concerned on the overall quality but I am interested to know the actual light/lumen output. Even if I am am only getting equivalent of a 600w light it is still good for me.

"Actual Power consumption: energy saving, just consumes about 240W-280W power, much better than the same product in the marketplace"

:crying: LED's should be measured by their true wattage consumption...that will give you a better idea of performance. For example, the quote above was taken from the link you posted....so this light would perform on par (maybe) with about a 250W HPS.

Alot of LED manufacturers make claims like that (I have a mars II 1200....actual draw is 600W.....). :peace:

I think it is because LED'S are a more efficient bulb and give more output for what you input. However I am not an electrical engineer and may be completely wrong :crying:

All that aside, I am looking at this option for the lower energy consumption and less heat. As you said all the manufacturers make statements like these. All I am looking for is some feedback from anybody that may have experience with these cheap knockoffs.

Don't buy this light. They state the power draw around 240 watts and they use ten watt diodes.Ten watt diodes are still very rare and when you do see them they are expensive cree chips and there is no way they can sell the light for that price, total B.S.If you want a cheap light get a Mars 300 watt that costs around seventy bucks.

I will steer clear in that case, but I require a little more power than 300w. I will price up the 600s and 1000s they do

The real kicker here is go down on his ebay page and look at pictures.... Most of the pictures, it's obviously not the same light being used.. I'd steer clear and if you want cheap go for mars.

Haven't seen those before but I suspect diode failures would happen soon. Heatsinks are pretty awful in these things.

Mars 300/600 would be better, and at a minimum they should send you replacement leds when they blow.
