No it won't, and I don't advocate blowing up churches and forcing people into one frame of mind. I just advocate telling them the truth and not force feeding people complete bullshit from birth. Kinda like I don't lie to kids about santa or the easter bunny. I know those atheist as well and anyone that blindly follows an idea without looking into why falls into the religion/bad science category for me. While stupidity is definitely here to stay we could smooth a whole lot out for humanity by shedding religion.

Well i agree with the whole santa and easter bunny stuff as i don't advocate mixing in those with my faith. Piggy i humbly respect your views on religion and believe it or not i have lost my faith and been atheist for a time. I have had things happen in my life that I believe god has helped me with and I receive a peace through bible reading and prayer that I had never felt before even when i was "christian" with my parents. I am in the faith I'm in because i seeked out knowledge and was pleasantly surprised with the results i got. I don't typically talk to random people or even online about my faith because of how abrasive most people are to other views than their own.

I was sitting on my hospital bed and contemplating my brain surgery. the neurosurgeon had told me that I may not survive and to get my affairs in order. For the life of me really I could not get on one side of the big question or the other. Is there life after death? If there is I figure I would be pleasantly surprised. If there wasn't I would just be dead. That thought conforted me and all the fear left. Here I am today and I still don't know the answer. Does anyone really know the answer. I haven't got the faith to believe blindly one way or the other. I never critisise any one who says they know for sure. I just smile. If someone does know for sure like they are deasd come back and tell me.

I'm deeply disheartened with this news and never knew you were facing this type of challenge. If you ever would like some literature or a bible i would be happy to send you information. There is in my opinion and my faith life after death. I can't imagine what you went through with this but it's hard to define your faith until you cross that point where something speaks to you. Again I try not to force myself onto any situation where someone doesn't want to know about god so don't take this offer the wrong way.




Just a side note to all though.... I'd rather follow what I believe and be wrong then to deny it and find out i lost out on a great opportunity.

I know plenty of atheists who have no hesitation telling others how to live their lives and are convinced that all their ideas are best & that society should be run their way. 'Religion' can be can be found in all sorts of places and it's not always a church. There are good people in the world and evil people in the world, and the evil ones will use whatever institutions at their disposal to gain power and benefit themselves. Knocking down churches and trying to stamp out organized religion will never change this fundamental aspect of human behavior.

I'm glad you're happy, but finding peace isn't proof of anything. I find great peace and a sense of connection with every thing on the planet when I eat shrooms, doesn't mean there's a god. I also have issues with calling it knowledge. It's not a reasonible or debatable topic, faith is a discussion ender and anything that cannot be rationally discussed I dismiss as whooey. I was once very religious, I did bible study and went to church. When I finally figured out there was no god I was so crushed that I spent half of a summer sitting in a basement having end to end panic attacks and wondering what the fuck to do? Luckily our friends mary-jay and shrooms got me out of that mess. Now that I base my actions and belief in logic and reason I live a much healthier life physically and mentally. I base my thought and actions in logic and rationality and demand proof for any claims people make in life. This understandably upsets people but I believe the reason for that is when forced to question their own beliefs and having their own non-logic based foundations shaken people become desperate and angry.

I would much rather demand proof now and live a life based on logic and mutual respect and be wrong than life a life of faith and be right. Even if I was wrong I have a big ol loogie for God's eye. Fuck any creator that would intentionally do all the cruel things god has been said to. I'd rather party in hell.

Within my faith god isn't the one that makes bad things happen. That's a WHOLE different guy pulling the puppet strings. God doesn't work in mysterious ways and doesn't want anyone to die or have harm come to them. God is love.

But you are right. People get pretty butt hurt when you don't agree with them on matters of faith and that's really sad and narrow minded.

I like that thought. I say connect the dots the way you want and respect others beliefs no one knows for certain so no one person can deny anothers beliefs in intelligent design. yes there are bad people in the world but this is because we have free will we together create the world we live in and we all have to accept to a degree responsibility as a caretaker for the earth so rather than get angry about everything in the world create the change you think would make it better place for us all. religion is not corrupt but the people who control it are being alive is a gift it does not matter who or what granted you the gift but more so what you choose to do with it
