Grow Mediums Using larger trays

Hi folks. Setting up my new tent at the moment. Going from 2 autopots up to 4 or possibly 6.

Trying to keep costs down so was going to get 1 / 2 autopot covers to use with either a 1m2 garden tray or 2 100cm x 40cm trays.

Will be using fabric root pouches so I don't think I'll need those pot socks they sell. Also I'll be using living soil or biotabs so it'll just be plain water in the tank.

I thought the 100cm x 40cm trays would be best as Id want to place the humidifier in the centre of the grow tent but I'd also have a diffuseair hanging in the centre just above the plants for air circulation. Don't know if that'd negatively effect the humidifier??

What is your opinion on which trays would be best? And best placement for the humidifier?

I'd go for separate trays. Flexibility in layout is good. As the saying goes, plans usually don't survive first contact with the enemy.

I had a look at the cat litter boxes available locally the other day, and they are cheaper than the trays sold for horticulture, and the size is about right for me. The other el cheapo option is to buy plastic totes and cut the bottom off at whatever height you think you want.

As to placement of the humdifier, I doubt that the position matters because you need air movement in there anyway, so the humidity will get stirred by your fan(s). I would put it wherever it fits, and adjust as necessary during the grow.

Thanks mate. Cat litter trays are a bit too small for me. Can get a couple of those 100x40cm grow bag trays for under £15 so I'll just go with them. Gives me the space I need for the autopot tank and the humidifier too.

Getting there my friend. Hopefully have all the hardware I need by start of next week.

Waiting on Dreamberry seeds for the Autoseeds grow and show and I've just threw my hat in for the Seedstockers grow and show too. Exciting times ahead!
