New Grower Vacuum Packed Buds

If you completely vacuum the bags it will press the hell out of your stuff but in doing so it will take out all the air and therefore won't mold. I like to get a couple weeks cure in the wide lid 1/2 gallon mason jars then vacuum until it just begins to form around the buds. Keeps it perfect for awhile. (6months is for ever for me to keep some lol) b

I've been vacuum packing buds for the last 5 years and so no evidence that it speeds up the cure. Keep in mind that the purpose of curing is the breakdown and release of chlorophyll. For that to happen there has to be an exchange of the air around the buds. I always cure mine for at least a month before vacuum packing. I try not to compress it too much, while still removing most of the air. Never had any mold. When I open a vacuum pack I stick it in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds to puff it back up.

A friend of mine opened some vacuum bud a few months ago that was around 1 year old and it had molded on him. I don't think he dried it enough, it smelled like rotten worms

When you vacuum seal them, do you dry them out more than the typical 65% RH? What is the longest you have preserved your buds with the vacuum sealing?

My father in law lives in CA. about once a year he goes to humbolt and buys a pound. Comes home and breaks down to ounces and then vacuum seals. He swears it's just as good a year down the rd.

I don't check the humidity levels, I just go by what feels right. They are still a bit moist when I vacuum seal them and they are still moist when I open them. I've had some sealed for as long as 5 years but I do see a bit of potency loss after about 3 years. But I don't have the best storage place. I keep them under the work bench in the garage, which can get cold this time a year and very hot in the summer. If I had a nice cool, dark place to store them they might stay potent longer.
