My name is Zack, I recently moved to Vegas from Idaho where I lived my whole life and they will never approve medical marijuana, so Nevada it is. This is my first attempt to grow anything more complicated than a tomato I received a few AK-47 seeds from my uncle and I currently have 10 auto blooming technically more, but my first batch sat in their small cups too long and ended up dwarfed I also know it’s a bit late this season for them, hopefully they will not wither in the heat, I would have preferred to start them earlier by I had to start them when I could do to bureaucracy in obtaining my card. I currently have an indoor set up but due to delays I don’t have the blooming light set up.

My setup is a little different from most due to the fact I have very limited mobility it is my hope that I can configure my grow set up so that I can maintain it without assistance to that end I primarily need to grow short easy to maintain plants. I also plan to raise some indica plants for cloning purposes.

So'k before I started growing I'd grown nothing but a chia pet....and somehow managed to kill it, and I kid you not lol.
From what I've read growing tomatoes is actually very similar to growing pot -

Growing tomatoes and cannabis are pretty close as far as the plant's needs are.

Tomatoes are from the family solanaceae which are also called the "Nightshades" and also include potatoes, peppers, eggplant and tobacco. They are a sub-tropical plant and need the soil to be at least 50 degrees before planting. Tomatoes can develop a disease if there is not enough calcium in the soil. They do best at temps from 60-85 degrees.

Most people will tell you that if you can grow tomatoes, you can grow cannabis and I find that to be true. Cannabis is also a sub tropical plant and does best when soil temps are 50 and above. Indica dominant plants can sustain cooler temps but still flourish when its warmer.

I think you can grow your cannabis like you tomatoes and vice versa. Hope this helps.

Welcome bro, if that autos in those 5 gal pots they will be huge. You said you need to keep them small, try 2 or 3 gal pots. Start them in their final pots, do not transfer them and do not clone them. You will stress the shit out of them. Good luck.

Welcome Zack, very pleased you came to AFN. I also have an AK-47 growing outdoors (but in the UK) and I have to say it is one of my very best looking strains (and pretty compact too). Best of luck with them bro' eP.
