hi guys

here's my grow diary;

you'll see my very happy Tangie'Matic at day 48 there.
a few days later and things have rapidly gone from excellent, to bad, to worse. here's yesterday's pictures at day 54...

this is accelerating. looking worse today.

some background;
Biobizz Lightmix 12L airpot
CLU048 1212 3500k cobs
Fastbuds Tangie'Matic
AN nutrients - Sensi Bloom, Voodoo, Carboload, Big Bud
Temps/Rh - 24-27 celcius and 40-55% RH

Looking PERFECT up to Day 48 on the following feed schedule;

Sensi Bloom A&B 1ml per L
Density CalMag 1ml per L
Big Bud 1ml per L
Carboload 1ml per L
Voodoo Juice <1ml per L

typically i have been alternating feeding and watering daily, usually 1.5L. i have not been watering to run-off this grow.
on this feed, i had a very healthy looking girl, nice rich greenery but not too dark green. not a single nutrient burn or blemish on her and being a newbie, i was very proud of her.

so the tips burned after the usual light feed - it was the first time i pushed Big Bud to 1ml per L (i introduce everything slowly) and i figured that was enough to cause the burning.

I backed off the feeds for 4-5 days and watered twice with plain water ph'd to 6.5. i have ph'd every feed and water this girl has had to 6.5. made sure she had good wet/dry cycles. Day 53 these new burns and crinkled leaves show up VERY rapidly and within 48 hours she looks like she does now. i fed her a very light feed to see how she reacts and it made no difference. nothing put in to the pot yesterday.

i don't have the facility to check my in-pot PH but as the damage has occurred so rapidly i'm thinking it must be way off. looking for some advice to what to do next.

lovely plant gone very south very quickly :help::help::help:

some extra notes as i don't have a good whole plant photo to hand;
the leaf damage is most prominent on her "main" cola - the older fan leaves towards the bottom of the plant are still a-okay. have i locked out all the mobile stuff?
the first sign was sudden burned tips on a light feeding schedule - i should have taken that as a bad sign sooner.

:toke: pardon the Holiday delay mate,... I suspect off pH in the pot too, and it may come down to you pH adjusting the AN nutes, which is a no-no, not recommended by AN because of their "pH perfect" thing,... And with no means to test in-pot pH, it's something of a guess and gamble here... Symptoms look like P defc., lockout likely, but if so, other nutes are sure to follow.... next best alternative is to do a flush, starting with 2-3x pot volume of water,... usually unadjusted, but that depends on the source, it's pH and ppm/EC,... then you test the run-off as you do this for pH and ppms as well, to see how bad it is first coming out, and check progress of correction,....

thank you @Waira :cheers: belated happy holidays to you sir.

I thought it’d be a gamble on the cards, and as I’m always pulling the ph down as my tap water likes to rise to 8 or thereabouts once left out. so I guessed in-pot must have raised. I’ve been running water ph’d to 5.7-5.8 through and the run-off is around 7.5. her worst leaves have gotten worse but generally she has stabilised - I skipped running more fluid through yesterday in a hope she’ll dry out before adding anything more. would you advise I continue doing this? or go for the big flush still? would take me a day or two to get that much water ready

she’s still fattening up to my surprise as well as being caked in cloudy trichs already (can stresses cause that to happen?) so i guess at pushing 60 days I’d just like to minimise the damage - without this episode she’d likely only have a just a few weeks left to go anyway.

plans ASAP for 2019 are to purchase a RO water system, a decent probe, and switch from the AN line.

:pass: you as well mate!

sooooo, hmmm, I don't like that pH jumping at all,... just how hard is that water, do you have a TDS/EC reading? pH indicates it's likely very hard, at 8+,.... This will blow the AN's buffering capacity away! It may also really screw with other nutes uptake, manifesting in defc. symptoms,.. it makes sense, as the mineral build up ( made worse by low to no run-off to purge it out) is a cumulative thing.... Also, how far away are the lights to the tops?
... if you could, get me closer pics of affected leaves, in normal light,... symptoms look mixed, and actually might be some Ca defc. showing ironically (Ca and P can have similar symptoms), but if the pH is high, the Ca isn't in a fully available form,.. Back to a possible flush, but with low ppm water, RO, Di, bottled or self fill units will be low ppm and much cheaper if available to you...
Nothing wrong at all with AN nutes, but I'm pretty sure they recommend not using really hard water with them,.... so add an inexpensive EC or TDS meter to the list! EC and TDS are directly related, in fact, TDS is an extrapolation of EC... but EC is universal, TDS isn't... different countries, brands have a different scale application,... most brands are 1.0EC = 500ppm

i'll be back with some words (hopefully in a timely manner!)...just off loading these pics from the PC;

Had a similar grow. Ph is so way

...wow, she's hurting for more P big time,... most all the symptoms are related to this,... i'm betting the pH is so off, it's locking out P, and if your dosage is weak to begin with, this will make matters worse,....

hi mate :bighug:

first pic was her at day 49/50, subsequent pics are two weeks later.
after several wet/dry cycles of light feed solutions run through the pot at a lower ph, I think it’s now stabilised and last feed, I fed 6.5 and measured slowly drained run-off as the same.
I haven’t removed many of the scabby leaves really, and while the leaves that were very far gone become crispier, her healthier leaves don’t look to be progressing.
I think I hit a ph spike after adding her first real dose of Big Bud (1ml per L) literally as I raised the P and K as she just started development of buds properly.
overall she was happy on light feeds all her life, first sign of trouble and it spread like wildfire through her tops! lower leaves just show a bit of yellowing. I skipped several doses of CalMag on her too because she wasn’t asking for it.
I think everything was spread a little thin, so as you say, when a problem arose it only exaggerated it.
she’s 67 days today and her buds are still swelling, so I think [hope!] I’ve avoided a complete loss :pighug:

thanks for taking a look. it’s been an experience to see first hand how devestating ph problems and resulting deficiencies an be.
