Hello:) Just bought this and am wondering about distance from plants. Forgive me if it's in the instructions, just shipped so I don't have it yet...

Also any other tips for use would be appreciated!!

Found it interesting that there wasn't anybody looking into the Vipar lights so far. I realize this thread is only 2 days old though so I thought I would record my experience with it if that's ok!!

Here is the plant I have now, a Dutch Passion Auto Blueberry growing under a 135 watt Blackstar UFO:

I hate taking pics under LED but since this thread is about LED...

Anyways, as you can tell she is begging for more light. This is the most powerful LED light that I have had so far, interested to see what a 400 watt will look like. It is set for delivery on Thursday according to the tracking information.

I have her in a 3.5 gallon DWC bucket, feeding plain old General Hydroponics nutes at 1/3 strength. I switched to the flowering recipe last water change. Currently in filtered well water but I also have a RO filter coming for my hobby which is also due for delivery on Thursday. It's my only hobby so I decided to invest some cash into it now that I am working so much... (Makes you seriously reconsider the typical lazy stoner generalization!!)

Hope this will be a positive experience and look forward to sharing the results with anyone who may be interested.

I have a b2x2 unit, decent build spectrum seems ok, have yet to complete a grow with the unit though.

So the actual name of this unit is b2X2? Sorry, new to this, never had a Vipar light before. Can you tell me what the name means? Is it spectrum, wattage, etc? Sorry for all the questions just learning ;)

Also, there is a thread here that talks about adjusting the white balance of pics under LED to get life like photos in green instead of purple. Does anybody have suggestions with the Iphone or GIMP software? Tried using Google but haven't been able to find anything as of yet.

Clearly I'm an idiot haha!! I went to their site and see what I ordered isn't a b2x2 :) Sorry about that!!

I got the Vipar 600w LED with 5 watt chips off Ebay. This is it in a 2'x4'x6' tent. I'm waiting on my inline fan to show up and to pick up a carbon scrubber and I'll be ready to rock. I'll get a grow log together and update my opinion later on. I can say so far, this thing is BRIGHT!

300w Vipar LED

I'm on my third grow with my Vipar LED and have been extremely happy with the performance so far given its price point. I have the older 300w unit (I believe it was the A300 model) I was just looking on their site and eBay and don't see it for sale anymore so I think it's been phased out with their newer modular units.

The specs on mine are:
100x 3w LEDs
Power draw (actual) - 180w (verified with meter)
Spectrum -IR 730nm, Red(620-630nm / 650-660nm), Blue(430-440nm / 450-460nm) & White(6000-9000K)

The spectrum on this is actually quite good, works well for a full grow cycle. The coverage is also pretty good (probably 3'x2') and since this doesn't have any secondary lenses it can get very close to the plants without bleaching or any heat stress. I've veg'd 3 plants under it and flowered up to 2. As for distances, I've been starting out at around 24" and usually just let the plants grow towards the light, near the end of flower I've been as close as 4-5" from top of buds without any issues. (I would not suggest this for their modular series or 5w models tho)

If anyone needs more info or has any questions feel free to PM me or just reply in this thread.

Fantastic info thanks so much!!

I was on their site yesterday. They seem to be out of everything except for two models at this time. I did find a page on their site that just listed the other models as out of stock. I would imagine they will be back, hopefully... Unless they have developed an entirely new line, which would explain the price. They accepted a $150 buy it now best offer for mine.

Wow! Just got home from work and the new light was on my doorstep!! It is WAY brighter than the tiny UFO and I have to say the color of light is much easier on the eyes and for picture taking:

Yeah I think the colour of the spectrum is like a pinky colour where as the GN is more of a purple IMO
