Outdoor Waira's '18 Mixed Bag of Tricks Combo Grow

...continued....

>>> Soils: initially, Vermisoil - :finger:,... then Royal Gold King's Mix- ..... big disappointment with the Vermisoil, which was fine for me last year! This bag came preloaded with gnats, 2x the lava rock as before, and as the grow progressed, it showed to have an unknown cause for lousy sucky performance (more on that below),...pH is fine, nutes fine,.. every plant in this mix is eating fans waaaay too soon, and nothing I do seems to halt this- :cuss:... the ones in Kings Mix are doing great! The pics will tell it all,.... Also, it was at transition that the yellowing out really kicked in,.. 10 days ago that Sour Livers looked OK, nice and green, but in 36 hours time, went funky....

>>>
Strains: Outside it's: C+2.0 (Dinafem); 11 Roses (Delicious); Sex Bud (Female Seeds, reworked C99); Maine's Own Blueberry (an older HighRise strain, repro'ed by our mate Stickman); and Outdoor Grapefruit (Female).... also, caught something in between, is Stick's juicy cross of MoB/OGK x C99auto... I wrongly thought it was fully auto at first, but it's actually an F1, so theoretically it should be a photosensitive,... but she seems to have gone full auto- ... I thought I botched the light transition going from tent to outside, but maybe not? She did react oddly to the transition, very compact in the tent, but stretched weirdly in Sun, lower laterals stalled out-.....Regardless, she's in full bloom, a longer schedule it seems,...very nicely stinky already, so this blend should be juicy!...:greenthumb:...... The Female seeds were balky during germ', so I fired off some stunt doubles just in case,...but only one misfired, the rest were OK,... I kept the Outdoor Grapefruit, and the others were adopted  ... pics show all but 11 Roses, which is now in her 10gal pot at the site,... the rest will be transplanted within a week,... below: MoB, SB (week or so younger), C+2.0,... ODGF in cup.... MoB/OGK x C99a

--- Tent strains: initially, Skyrone Stomper, Sour Livers, Super Blueberry (Short Stuff tester), Amber (Stone's AF-Portal) which is in the 2L Comp',... Hiccup [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] started here-... the gnats were starting to go nuts, so I brewed a Bti tea with mosquito granules, and did a spray with spinosad when they were about 1 week,... turns out, that fucking spray went sour (never had that happen so fast) and it fried the cotyl's,... first leaves were OK, but still damaged the newest forming leaf tissues, so they emerged fragg'ed out, even had to top the SBB,...I figured stunt-city for sure, if they made it at all.. but they ground it out! Meantime I fired off another Skyro', a Cosmic Queen, Amber (2L) and Orange Diesel,... the Amber is in the Vermisoil, troubles not spotted at the time and I needed to get her in time for the Comp start,... as you'll see, the Skyro', CQ and OD are looking fine,...thank gawd!
.....Skyro' still stayed small (I did start all these in 32oz cups), but CQ is better, and OD is doing better as well for size,... I should also note, I went off my usual plan for the tent, due to crowding along with all the photo' seedlings too,... I used plastic pots, taller/narrower to save space, instead of my usual fabric... not a good call, they don't dry fast enough to get feeds cycled in a timely manner, another strike against them-.... between the shit soil and this = :wall:..... up the learning curve I go-

Hey @Waira
Sorry i never got back to you via PM on the MoB/OG x C99a autoing issue! Chronic disease I have had most of me life, is back with a vengeance, thus quite ill. Show must go on though.

I continue to find many of the photo x auto F1s are autoing on us, not just my gear. I hit my Z6 x Harle-Tsu F3 with CBD Haze auto fem pollen. I started three to go out in the hoop house this year, 2/3 autoed on me straight away. I also started several Blue Hemp DarthVader= (Hindu Kush x Afgahni) x Hindu Kush(p) x WOS Afgan Kush Ryder F1s that a friend from Germany sent me. Again 2/3 autoed on me. Photo pheno is early and looking great though.

The MoB/OGK mom that i used finished for me great here, thus a fairly fast finisher. Also obviously very Afghan dominant Definitely no LR genes. Here is a picture of her. Shit, I am on a new PC with Windows 10. Tried everything to get the pictures to load vertically, nota. May have to try me old PC for loading pics. Sorry about you having to turn your PC sideways to view pics.

I just went out and snapped these pics of my lonely MoB/OG x C99a. She has been per-flowering quite heavy. Not sure yet if she is going to keep flowering or re-veg on me.Well Ok, looks like old pictures in the folder on my PC show up sideways, but new ones not, maybe...

Et Moi...?............:eyebrows:

Ha ha ha @FullDuplex ..there you have it....:eyebrows:...If something breaks the known Rules....you Have to go back and check your Originals..check they are what you were sold.

Gotta say...coming from a Competitive growing culture....it is Not Unusual for a Breeder Not to tell you Everything they put in a cross...coz if they did...we could All do it...:headbang:...so I worked on the premis there was something in the Originals that we weren't Told about....hence the Theory about a little Fast Afghan dom in the Original mix..that we didn't know about.

I Did...:headbang:...or at least the Male was easier to spot that females.

I Used it in the Original Auto hybrid hunt. He was small and fast...as we were hunting Auto and I needed to reduce the height of my girls it seemed to me that the fastest way to catch it would be to go with the fastest/smallest male.. and that was Him...

Me and thee working in the same gene pool ..could be why..or not.....I have spent many an hour Thinking about it...with no resolve in my head......just Pet Theories...

I have also seen phenos in pure photo crosses that Act Auto.......if you know what I mean...quacking like a duck.....but pure photo by definition.

Maybe they just decided to Work something like that into the Original...and we can't quite work it out...(My Bets is still on a small fast affy..)

Maybe it never was Rudi and they sold us a Pup....to stop us being able to Copy easily....:headbang:..t'wouldn't be the first tie that was pulled by a Breeder wanting to protect his work.

Oh..That's where My Betting is coming from....:headbang:

:headbang:

That is [HASHTAG]#2[/HASHTAG] solution...:headbang:...I don't have the degree/tech to prove it out..but to me all Law's are there to be Challenged.
If you can't Prove something............Disprove it......

This is always Easier for people to See/understand in pure black and white...without prejudice...

If you cross a black african father to a white european mother the resultant children could be white or black..or any colour in between dependent on genetic dominance in the crosses you started with ...:headbang:

Now..in terms of what we have in Autos......I have seen photo...I have seen Auto...I Think we have all seen Fast Flower...which is not Quite either Auto or photo...
Personally I have seen a Huge Auto...with a much extended grow time....and I have seen 1 Huge Auto with a Super fast finish time...Once...:headbang:

So maybe we are looking at a Everything in between cross that we haven't got 'round to exploring/naming...defies the Set Rules on both Auto and photo...
looking for that huge auto with the fast finish!, cheers Mossy!

I am a sucker for colour .

According to phylos bio science there is not one strain on the market that is Homozygous.View attachment 929923
variability makes it fun, and frustrating, kinda like the way life is, viva the many faces of canna
I was wrong why didnt anyone correct my stoned brain cells? Im smoking some of the strongest weed ive ever smoked, an og x stomper cross i made. it will put you down and out for hours.
f2 will see 25% per punnett
grow enough f1's and you'll see auto's even thou per punnett you shouldnt see any.

:toke:........ All's going well enough since last update,... the first sad sack Skyrone Stomper is dry! I'll get dry porn up shortly, but it's damn potent and has delish' aromatics-.... Super Blueberry is down and drying, she made some very nice little nugg's, fruity-spicy-Hazey aroma.... Just the Sour Livers and the 2L Comp Amber left in that crap soil! The SL is at least making a more decent yield and nice dense frosty buds, great aroma too... All the tent girls are getting Sunbathing time when ready!
OD girls are starting to build up well, and seem to be liking the Roots Organic 707- :woohoo1:- always a bit of a butt clencher when using a new soil! I went with 707 because the King's Mix dries very fast with the tent plants, maybe too fast for outside? ...Megacrop fed a couple times, along with fresh Recharge and Tappin' Roots... the vigor on the 11 Roses continues to impress! ..damn good thing I put her in a 10'er and not 7gal,....

Because of this showing, and of course Skelly's success with other Delicious strains, I'm all over the other brand new one, Golosa = Blueberry/Sweet Tooth x Bay 11 -(damn fine Sativa I tried last year).. a very exciting cross! :hump:.... I'll make the rounds and loop by yours too brudda,..:pass:

>>>

:smoking: Hec'
mate,.... I think it all starts with the genetics for sure,... The simple axiom is even a Master grower can only do so much with an inherently (genetically) inferior strain, and never grow it into a superior one = :deadhorse: :haha: .... And we see here every day how new, even fairly low skilled growers can grow high quality genetics and still get a fine product at the end... It does take an excellent grower to get the most out of given genetics though, and a huge part of that is definitely nutrition... of course, light and env. conditions play their roles as well! That said, the truth of potency is more complex than just what the sheer abundance of trichomes brings to the table,... all that glitters ain't gold sometimes! Without a doubt, I've had strains/buds that didn't look all that impressive, but still kicked like a demented mule- :dizzy:.... and visa-versa! I can recall many years ago some indoor stuff that looked well trich'ed and smelled good, but packed little punch at all, ...we ragged at the seller for ripping us off with the "no-stone" shit he foisted on us- :cuss: .... Point is, one can have bud that isn't utterly frosted over with trich's, and easily match potency with one that is,.. What's in the trich heads, the THC%-wise, is the variable,.. and of course, the magic that the terpene profile brings! They can affect things like brain/blood barrier penetration rates (think fast and hard hitting vs. creeper, even if they're both the same in THC%), and what those terp's do themselves,.. AND then you have the actual real-life whole-package synergistic or "entourage" effect of the complete chemical pot including other rarer cannabinoids.
The African stuff I've tried has a definitely unique nature to the buzz; Malawi Gold, Red Congolese- :coffee::woohoo: :crisps:- pretty much sums it up!.... this is why I want you to try some real deal African and Asian (near)landrace genetics like that Lilly and Edy I mentioned,... Wild Thai (World of Seeds)... the auto version is superb across the board, so imagine what the photo' parent is like! I know already how you love your Central and South American Sati' chica's- :wiz:...... I cannot wait for next season already mate, the dance card is overflowing with choices as is, but one of those Original delicatessen African crosses is a shoo-in for sure, they have the speed to finish here for me unlike so many others,... even that Wild Thai would be a real gamble, ditto for Desfran,.. but I may try anyway!
I used think that frost coverage was a potency yardstick, until I grew Sugar Baker @Rebel . Nice plant, tight buds, but nowwhere near the resin I was used to seeing. Outta the jars, top aroma and taste of the season and potent enough to put me down without a frown.

Everything is looking great @Waira :d5:
You mentioned air circulation issues... what are you using currently?
Re 707: you should get great results with it. Be careful though it can dry out rather quickly as roots fill it up. I use Aurora’s full soil lineup. 707 for starts, Roots Original amended with GBD’s auto mix for my autos and Greenfields for autos and photos. I find it to be very consistent as far as quality is concerned. As with all soil I treat with mosquito bits for the fungus gnats.

RE Nierika Seed Trust: you are correct. It’s a division of Bhodi seeds that deals with landrace genetics. He also has Supernatural Selections that deals with the same. Here’s a pic of my 4x8 Acapulco Gold from Nierika.
