Who here uses 100 percent of their grow with not even used soil going to waste?

Lowering your carbon footprint while enjoying top shelf medicine is top priority in my grows i use everything even the used soil i will add to my veggie garden outside. My stalks n roots become oils my trimmings become hashes for smoke or eddibles nothing goes to waste this should b important to all who grow. I messed up with my 1st indoor grow n bought plastic bags to grow in oops! Next grow im using reusable hemp fiber bags. Living the lifestyle. Being an outdoor grower up till now i never had to consider bags .

I will be re-using soil and, now that I have some compost bins going, I will be composting leaves and possibly even stems. If I have an Plant with bug issues, though, I’ll be burning them. I was listening to Jeff Lowenfels and he leaves all the roots in his pots and just pops another seed and goes right back to growing! Lol!

I’ll be leaving the roots in there but I’ll add a few amendments and compost the soil for a time before re-using. This winter all my used soil will be in a pile and planted with a cover crop of green manure, to get it ready for next spring’s containers.

Lots of people think that there’s plenty of remaining nutrients in the soil, if it was properly built in the first place and that the key, at that point, is the microbial life. If the soil has the right microbes it’ll allow the plant to pull out the nutes. That is to say, in an organic system. My ultimate goal is 100% organic and water-only soil + aerated teas. No bottled nutes. We all gotta have a dream, right?

I keep all of my used promix HP and put in in the veggie gardens in the spring. Stalks and roots i just scrap...not enough time to deal with that part of the grow.

I guess the no till approach and leaving the roots, microbes and fungi undisturbed is the clue.
I think it should only be composted if ever the soil have gotten some sort of troubles that can get killed of in the compost pile. If not, just leave the soil undisturbed and add new mulch and soilfood at the surface.
Remember there are lots of nutrients in the old roots that will become available for the new roots when the old die and start to rot.
So I totally agree with Jeff Lowenfels, just plant the seed or seedling in the soil with as little disturbance as possible.

I dig a hole and take the soil from the core of the pile for my new pot. I haven't bought soil in a year. I just buy Coco and vermiculite.
