Lighting Watts per square foot.

I almost bought the new Mars pro epistar160 fix I liked the rectangle structure but I needed a single light or two lights that were very close to my 600hps 1200 was my best choice for a starter light. Probably run like 2 400w for veg when I upgrade tent
Be glad u didn't it's an ok lite but u can get more bang for buck I have a solar spec 150w amare tech that kills a my mars 400 all day long

I think the watts per square foot for led should be adjusted.as there is the arguments over what measurement for light led/hps etc. is comparable with each other.250w led = 600w hid I keep hearing about.so should the 50/foot not be adjusted aswell ? say cut in half.
im a crap 2x4 cupboard grower with 3 years under my belt, ive been through 3 leds.1st gave me 7.5w/ft 2nd was 11.25/ft 3rd 22.5/ft.i have only just worked the figures out for the first time, never gave w/foot any real thought until now.
im super happy with my results, even if my w/ft figures are shit.

I think its closer to 350 to 400watts High end emitters replace a 600hps. With the lower quality epistar its around 500watts.
The CXB200(200watts)/Vero240(240watts) Im using is a true 400watt HPS replacement. Coverage area and hps replacement is very shady area.
I rec to pepes all the time that if they don't buy a fixture that at least has Cree XT/XP, then stay with HPS until its possible

You got it rite bro look at amare technologies they are the leaders in the industry to me

Best Ive ever used mono Osram OSLON SSL80s.I havnt seen anything close in terms of efficiency#s.Was covering a 5x5 with500watts ,full coverage too. Then the XT/XP.The tech is getting fairly old 2years ,but still work great. COBs are really where everyone headed, because of effiency #s/ Intensity and grower servicabilty.
300watts XT/XP are the last mono in grow area and will get retired after this run to veg tent where I will just use the 150watts whites for the 2x4.
Zelion is best mono based Ive ever used.Top Bin OSLONs are best available for production purposes(125 from wall)

Do ya know what COBs/Bins/Drivers amare using in there Solareclipse series?
Are they built in the states?
Thanks

If I remember right the Amares have CXB2530, not sure about the bin.
Amare say between 2000-4500 lumens and high cri which doesn't match up really, high bin and high cri don't go over 4000 lumens with this cob(@800mA).
Sounds more like numbers from the cxb2530 catalogue:)

I don't know what to think of Amare, I follow a guy testing them and the plants look good so far. Time will tell us more.
Then thinking of my tent with 300W of CXB 3590s I feel blessed with such light levels which I believe are much higher compared to an Amare unit(which has a broader spectrum) because of higher efficency and so on.

So to be constructive for this thread - I currently veg with 150W cob leds and 125W of cfls, when flowering I'll put 300W leds and maybe the cfls for a boost if needed.
All in a 8 ft² tent, so it averages around 37.5W/ft² of high efficency led.

Cheers

Well I can tell u that they run there cobs hard we than most n still have efficiency running a cxb 3590 at half it's intended power because of heat is like running a big block engine at half power because heat

Now amare has found a way to run the cxb3590 hard n remove heat but can't disclose info just yet but I just can't spend the $ when I can't run them like their supposed to be ran plus they now use cxb3070 n only to shut up sum doubters but they do run the cxb3590 in the pro8 which I want one but it's a lot of money rite now but these baby's are used in commercial ops

Pro8 Ip65 rated then?
I did see there cases are vented and its hard to remove heat from these cobs like that. We use a sealed forced air Intake/Exhaust with 3 fans
Its the only proper way to do it. We kept it hush during proto testing didn't show any top/back profile and Interior until legality part was taken care of to protect it.
We use a dimmer on the 100watt 3590s and efficiency # go up when they power down. lose a tad in driver efficiency ,but not noticeable. Esp with Meanwell HLGs we use.
Amare using Meanwell?
