I read the thread from the Aussie growers with interest already, but I'm keen to see if I can corral some hints and tips for dealing with extreme heat or heat waves in outdoor grows.
Currently, I've got some 7 week plants and some seedlings going, but we just entered some days of severe heat (40+ celsius).
What are people's top tips, given that indoors is, if anything, just as hot as outdoors?
Shade tips? Watering tips? Any suggestions for how to safeguard plants through a high heat? I'm happy to hear them all.

Give water, shade if you can then cross fingers and hope? Not too many plants apart from cacti and other desert plants that can handle constant 40°c +. Shade to stop them getting fried and water to keep them hydrated. Don't fertilize and don't defol..

You could use canvas as your shade cloth and wet it. The evaporation process might drop the air temp in the very near vicinity by a degree or two.

Grandma grew outside in Nevada breaking 120f. Plants never had any problems just had to water like crazy seems like outdoor plants can handle heat way better.

There was a guy on Facebook who's greenhouse was 131f at the time he was filming and every plant looked perfect.

My greenhouse has a swamp cooler and it keeps it under 105 but often is over 100 and doesn't seem to effect the plants much.

White pots lots of watering, if a swamp cooler or mister is available it'll help a ton.

48c! Nevada is dry desert heat too eh?

The first thing I do is flip day and night so the lights run at night when it is cooler. I use a swamp cooler most of the summer but when the plants are in late flower like they are now, I have to close off the cooler airflow to that room and run the dehumidifier to keep the RH in range. Temps can get into the 90s in the space. It has been 111°F four times already this season. I gave the girls an extra dose of carbohydrates (AN Bud Candy) to enhance the terpenes because the heat vaporizes the most delicate. I should start harvesting in a few days. I will need to just hang the whole plant to keep it from drying out too fast.

I also turned down the lights a bit.

:goodluck:

I'm growing outdoors, but thanks for that. I'm sure it's helpful for indoor growers.

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying: misread the title :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Outdoors shade cloth, misters and light colored mulch is about all I can think of. I use all three in my vegetable garden.
