I found the thrip larva to be succeptable to Bt(i) last time I fought the little bastards. I used mosquito bits and spread over the top of the soil. I also would put about a tablespoon of the bits in a quart of warm water and let them reproduce in the water for 3-4 days, then add about half to my feeds. Refill the half full container and let it cook until next feeding time. In my experience, you only manage the thrips and hold them to a low enough population that you get minimal damage. I had to sanitize and completely shut down my grow for about a month. After that, I never got them back. Dealing with fungus gnats right now, but they are way easier than thrips. Good luck and keep up the constant fight.
