Just wanted to ask what type of dehumidifiers people use and how and when do you operate?

Do i need a dehumidifer and a humidfer? I see gro well are selling Dessicant Dehumidifier, does anybody else use this?

RH seems good when lights are on but goes up dramatically when they are off?

Does anybody have this problem? thanks

Its not a problem. RH is a factor of heat. The more heat, the more water the air can hold. The size of it depends on your growing area, but I totally do not advise a dissecant dehumidifier. Get a proper electric one :goodluck:

ok but when my heat goes up the moisture level go down? so if its hotter in my room from what your saying shouldn't it be going up? thanks btw

I think the Groff referred to a passive dehumidifier that uses bags of silica gel that needs to be replaced, and you have no control. Electric ones comes in 2 varieties, compressor type and

desiccant types relies on a (typically) silica gel to absorb moisture.

I have this here Electrolux for a damp basement http://www.dehumidifier-reviews.co.uk/electrolux-exd15dn3w-15-litre works a charm and you can digitally set the humidity you want from 35 - 85 % in 5% increments. Probably overkill for a small grow area, but I will get the same for my grow room when I get my lazy rear in gear.

Judging from Tang's grows and reading elsewhere, 40 % seems a good level for canna girls towards the end...........more here http://www.theweedblog.com/what-is-the-right-humidity-level-for-marijuana-plants/

These are just pretend values for explanation.

Imagine you have fixed RH% of 50% at 22ºC, but vary the temperature...

26ºC - RH% 45.
30ºC - RH% 40.
18ºC - 55%
12ºC - 65%

Again, this is just pretend values.

RH does vary quite a lot depending on where you live. In the tropical forest you have high heat AND high humidity. In the desert you have high temperature and low humidity. It depends. If it rains a lot humidity goes up, near the sea humidity is usually higher, autumn, spring, summer, winter RH varies etc etc etc.

A dissecant dehumidifier has crap performance and are usually way too small. Good to have in your clothes closet for example, but certainly not for a grow room. Apart from that, you cant set how much you want to keep the RH at. With an electric one, you can dial in exactly how much you need depending on growth stage. Early veg, no problem to have it as high as 80%, end of flower better have it below 45%, some strains even less.

The performance of electric dehumidifiers are gzillion times better than dissecant.

But again, it depends on your grow area. If you're growing in a PC case, then a dissecant might help just fine.

I really need to buy one now you guys are right
have a look on ebay mite get a chep one,got mine for £25 and still working dam good over a year,i only get a Electric ones, becouse the the others iv try are in the bin know :thumbsup:mark sure it hold 10ltrs or more a day:passit: kudo afn.jpg

What do you think of this? You can set the humility level and has a auto shut up, 5 speed settings looks nice to me
