I have used both and now using Roots Organic.I don't no if I should go back to chem nutes or stay with Organics. Please give your opinion only if you have used both and don't forget to list brands of either one.

I'm Currently a canna coco A&B user (along with additives like bloom boosters etc)

I have previously tried Biobizz organics (for a year), and while i got nice results, i couldnt say the taste was better (for me) and my issue was dealing with plant problems. Organics take some time to become available and get eaten by the plants, so i felt like when i saw a problem, i was looking at a problem from 3 days ago.

I'm sure when dialled in, the organics rock the party (see advice from Hazy and others who use with great success), but for me

.....- Chemicals are the way! :D

Just my 2 cents as usual!
Nice thread nammy! :tiphat:

The age old question.. I too have wondered about this.
I finally decided to do a side by side grow of the same strain to really judge.
I grew out 2 DP AutoXtremes. 1 using General Organics and the other using Soul Synthetics.
The S.S. plant yielded 1oz more than the organic plant. It was harvested first too.
The organic plant was slower to mature and ripen, but as a grower I really liked the structure and all around growth of the organic plant.
The S.S. line was easier to use in correcting nute defs once they hit flower mode. As Blue said the organics take a bit longer to act.
In my eyes the true test will be in the final product. Once they have both cured for a proper amount of time a taste test will be done to see the true difference between the two.
Here is a link to my grow if anyone wants to see the results.

I am still on the fence at the moment.
Synthetics definitely give a larger yield in my garden.
But as I said... It all comes down to taste for me..

I swear by organic nutrients!

The reason I have come to this conclusion is because in the past I used canna chemical nutrients (it was a long time ago so I cant remember the exact name sorry)and I also used a product called optimum bloom. When I used these nutrients I found that no matter what strain I grew or how long I flushed it for, the effect on the taste and effect of the smoke was noticeable.

When I went organic I found that the flavours and smells were much more individual and the final effect was better.

There are pro's and con's to both methods so I think really it is up to personal choice but here is what I found

Chemical

pros - better growth, higher yields
cons - worse taste, more hassle with flushing
Buzz - a more immediate hit but didn't last as long

Organic

Pros - safer and easier to use and store, better taste, easier final flush
cons - less yield and growth than chemicals
Buzz - takes longer to kick in but has a much better effect and last a lot longer

Whatever choice you make I wish you all the best with your future grows

If I were growing outside, or would definitely be reusing soil without sterilization, I would definitely use organic since there would be enough time and soil flora to render most of the nutes available to the plants. I would also want to make sure that my ferts were free of common organic fert ingredients such as bone or blood meal, fish stuff, or a most common component of organic nutes, processed sewage sludge (usually a "proprietary" component).

Indoors I use chemical nutes being sure to get one with full micronutrients, in a fully soluble dry mix. I don't want to pay for a solution when I can get water from my tap and adjust it, let alone pay for someone to truck a few grams of fert in a gallon of water.

A water soluble chem fert will flush out with water right off... those organic bulky mixes (the ones that always have a sediment) simply aren't going to wash right out. I also don't care for the smell of organic ferts, or what most of them turn into after being stored after opened for a few months.

The best (quality) weed I ever did was in a field injected with anhydrous, hands down.

I really can't say, but I am inclined to think that what Seraphim says about the buzz is probably closer to the truth than I might ever have thought if it hadn't been raised. I suspect that organic nutrients probably have a shorter shelf-life than synthetic/chemical ones.

I can't speak to chem nutes but I am a big believer in Mycorrhizal fugal and beneficial bacteria.

Great thread Nammy!
Up to this point all I have used is TlO supersoil. Worked great for my first grow last year, but that was OutDoors.
Running it now indoors, but I will be switching to some kind of bottled nutes for my next indoor run. It is great to hear from you experienced growers that have used both, so that I can make make a more informed decision on what to use indoors.

Thanks for all of you that have chimed in thus far.

Peace!

I was a Fox Farms Trio grower for a while, and now use the General Organics box set. I tend to agree with the comments above that synthetic nutes are quicker acting and can lead to bigger yields. Organic nutes take a bit more up front work, but once you have things dialed in there is a bigger margin for error. pH is not something that has to be watched as closely as when you use synthetics, and there is less chance of any ill effects on your flavor and smell.

I previously used FF Happy Frog and now use Sunshine Advanced #4, both of which have myco included. I add some Great White myco to the pot and water in the soil at least a week before planting a seed. I also add a bit of GW when dropping the seed in the soil for good measure. If you can get the microherd established early, feeding with the organic nutes is much more responsive without as much of a delay. Since the microbes are feeding the plant, keeping pH in range is not essential with organics, but I use organic pH up/down to keep things in range anyway. I guess I'm just too set in my ways to put away my pH pen. Plus if I'm 6.3-6.5 and something really goes wrong with a plant, I've got the option to use synthetic nutes as a last ditch effort.

I have grown 3 of the same strains with both chem and organic, and the organic plants had a better structure and flavor/aroma, but not as much yield. I am a personal use grower so quality is more important than quantity, and I am willing to sacrifice a little weight.

Wow,what a rather large question. And decision too.I tthink ya said it best imho Andy.Yeilds are awesome with synths, forces em to feed really quick(forcefeeding yer plants really imho) and booom!... off to the races ya go.But I too am 100% willing to suffer on a handful of grams or so to have some Higher end smokeables and oil making stuff. When I first started growing I used MANY types of Nutes out of a Bottle,a box,you name it.as long as it was mostly affordable.

With my nute grows I really did try using less, more ,flushing longer n all that, but I really noticed a slight chem flavor or even a smell earlier on in my grows. But Ive found since Ive went organic out of a Bottle(fishies,Honeys n such),the smell is much cleaner imo,and I grew a Blue dream last year and is to date the best smelling and tasing smoke Ive had in years.all natural organics.

it'll be awesome is to see a TLO grow which Im trying.Seems to just keep getting better and much more about the qualities and better effects from the smoke(that might be in my head though LOL) but to use synthetic nutes for me was a bit more crazy. All the mixing, and measuring n such.this is a once or twice measure, n filtered water n pow.Its about ease of growing too imo.Im a busted up dude, and a lot of work early on and add less products, less work, hey ,sign me up man!LOL! and ofcourse,Im just giving my opinions and my dealing within my travels through my own growing curve
.Be well everyone.Best of luck in your decisions Nammy. Now lets fire one Up!!

"AFN smoke out":Sharing One:"AFN smoke out"

OH almost forgot, its easier for me to take a pic and show ya,verses typing it.Sound odd but its the truth.LOL!these are(not everything)MOST of the products Ive grown and harvested with over the few years Ive been playin with Autos and photos.ok,NOW...lets fire a couple up."AFN smoke out"
