Lighting What's better for 4x4

Should I go with the crecer lighting panthrx mini or the hlg diy kits?

Bout to start my first official indoor grow and want a light that I can count on to bring results.

If budget is a constraint, go for DIY kits. Apple to apple, all these kits are the same. Yes, I said it and will stand by it. Just do some research like any other significant purchase that we make and you'll be fine.

Name brands means more money. But they do come with less hassle (Plug n play) most the time but again, at a much higher price. Sometimes double, triple or more! Warranties and support will be much more convenient. Note that I said convenient. Not better! With the money you paid, that is the least they can offer.

I see two main types of light buyers. One requires ease of use to the max because there are far too many variables in a grow to worry about. They wanna leave lighting decisions to the seller 100%. Money is not an issue with these type of buyers. Give them something good and charge them an arm and a leg. They'll say its cheap!

Another group which I fall in don't mind researching deeper into the subject (Time!) and spend a couple minutes building them. All in order to get the best diodes, efficiency, spectrum, spread, penetration etc for our budget and grow conditions.

As you can see, its a trade off. Hope this helps.

Well the diy and the crecer are about the same when it comes to price points and they both cover the area Im growing in with a good spread and intensity. Wanted to hear from people who may have worked with one or the other and see what was preferred but thanks for the reply man.

Man, u gotta do some further research before dismissing me. Which diy is the same price point as that crecer panthr mini? You only mentioned that 320W crecer light and HLG diy. I told you they are both brand names. Even so, diy with HLG is still cheaper than crecer, watt for watt.

Also, if you already "know" both lights give you great spread and intensity for your space, seems like you're good?

HLG recommends their 4×288 boards for a 4×4. Thats easily 550W when powered max. The crecer is only 320W but states the same footprint. Idk...

Both the crecer and hlg diy kits are LEDs on PCB aka QBs. I am using QBs. I prefer QBs. Looking at the crecer specs, they should be the same light although they did not mention diode model.

Your question was answered but you apparently want someone to tell you for sure which light is "Better"? There isn't even a general consensus on the best spectrum yet. We are all learning as we go.

I guess the point being - opinions are like a-holes - everybody has one. You just got to determine who's opinion is an educated one and who's perhaps isn't then make a rounded decision.

The search facility on AFN should also allow you to view other peeps grows where different lights have been used.

The choice is seemingly endless though I reckon most manufacturers are covered here so...........................................do your homework and if you have any questions chance are that you'll find the answers here.

The proof of the pudding.......

Light is but one element of the growing process - if you aint got all the other elements locked down then it wont matter what light you have in terms of bringing in results.
