New Grower What's in a name

The next step will create international interest in my seeds. Come on people, how can a name do all this? If I had just made a cute blend of the names of the parent strains, who would have shown interest other than a few breeders? Why is the name AK47 good for sales while a better strain with a poor name such as MI5 does not sale as well? Both have shared genectics so it has nothing to do with that. So I took a small mention in high times using a forum open to all and turned it into national t.v. coverage that I will then use to launch a world-wide campain that all networks will be eager to run for free. I will do this by making their job easier, just as I made the producer of chelseas job easier. I have made it my goal to put kentucky back in the forfront of mj breeding as it was 25 years ago. Go hillbillies!

I like how you think and how motivated you are but I was just wondering if you would list the genetics in the description of your seeds? Although the effect is the most important thing I personally like knowing the genetics of what I smoke. I'm not sayin I wouldn't buy an unknown strain if I knew it was good but I put so much time and effort into growing that I want to know everything I can about the plant.

My approuch is very different than others. If patients keep asking for a certian strain then growers will buy the seeds knowing there is a ready market.I am in the process of combining at least 20 top photo strains. So I combine one cross with another cross and now there is 4 strains represented. Crossing their offspring with a similar set of crosses and now you have 8. So on until at least 20. Follow my reasoning. These traits that I am naming are all in the genectics of my work, so all I am offering for now are F1's , never to be seen again. Yet each generation has a wider genectic base to later withdraw whatever trait you want in whatever combination. By the time I have my photo base built , I should have fixed the first trimester problem in the autos, and I will then combine a line of autos from this same base. For the smoker, the grower simply transferes the effect name to tha plant that expresses it. For the grower these all have hybrid vigor and are therefore easy to grow. For the breeder, at any point in the chain, a great plant can be singled out and selfed for 5 or 6 generations, stabilizing it as a brand new combination. Remember, the effect is EVERYTHING, the genectics are of little importance when all you want is releif from an illness that one effect does well and others don't. The name is only a marketing device. To not reconize that is to fail as a seed merchant.

Ok I think I get what you're saying. So your seeds for sale will be F1? If they are then they could be any combination of the 20 plants you bred together and it is up to the grower to select the genes they want and self it to stabilize? not questioning your method just trying to understand because I am also interested in breeding.

Yes, for the breeder these are brand new combinations never seen before. If there is a strain (effect)you prefer it is easy to make sure it is inculded in the final mix by breeding it in. I think the time is past when we can really think that any crosses are just two strains. Remember it is a name game for many breeders. Many strains are just a single plant cloned and bred to make F1's every time. That is a plant, not a strain. Age old methods of breeding still work great and most of our foodstuffs are not just a cross of two strains but a combination of many. It is all about first adding many different strains then selecting for what you want. As always the key is in the selection process. But first you need as diverce a group of genectics as possable. The number of combinations possable is astronomical. I combine all the finest kinds, hence the name of my seed co-op, Finest Kind Seedworks. A new approuch to mj breeding yet not a new method of breeding. The Actec did it with corn without understanding dna.

Back to the main topic. The producer of the chelsea handler show asked me a question that I do not know the answer to. What is the name of my dispencery. I am in the process right now of asking a local onconlist if he could give me the names of a few patients suffering from chemo. I have a couple relatives who are docters so this is not as hard as you might think. It is all about trust. Plus this is a free service for them, I will donate the meds. My question is, how nit picky are they going to be for a comedy peice. It is called " name this strain" and will only run 4 times. There is no contraband changing hands, just words. I am not asking them to even mention me other than as a new breeder needing names. I bought a barbi's party dress and put it on a 12 inch bud. I took a pic and then removed the cloths and removed the top part of the bud. Chelsea at a party and chelsea topless. Stupid maybe but works for t.v. They are looking for good (funny) spots every night and want to find something to use. How much should I say and not scare them off?

My girl watches chelsea and she said to try to be funny but chelsea has a tendency to have no filter and be a smart a$$. So she (or the shows writers) will make the not so funny seem like it is funny. Things like the "topless chelsea" are great and right up her alley. So basically try to be funny but not too hard. How about something like "famous seeds" or "celebriseeds" as a name for your dispencery. I think I like celebriseeds because you name seeds after celebrities and famous historical figures

Accident or not, it has brand name reconition. Half the words in "seed merchant" are merchant. I guess I gave someone more credit than they deserved. Just a happy accident.
