Indoor When to start tying her down?

Well, that subject line pretty much sums it up. When is a good time? And is there such a thing as too early?

And while we're at it, what should be the main focus? Getting the main, highest stem pulled down, or the side growths?

Hello turtle, I can't give a insight on too young or not but I wait til there is at least three nodes. And the main focus of mine at first is only getting the main bent over a bit and very gradually nothing too extreme at first. I tend to just bend ot over a bit with a strap around the top and let her grow. She will bend herself over with out breaking anything. Them I just watch. I focus on trying to maintain an even top so if you see a certain lower cola beginning to shoot straight up as a dominant the strap her so on and so on .

I'm no expert but I wait a little longer so you got something to work with. Every time you tie down a top the tallest point becomes the new top. Tie them in a way so you can keep tying and spreading her out.

That depends on what you plan to achieve with your plant. Auto or Photo? with a photo period, I'd tie it down after the first branches appear. Top it at the third or fourth node, tie down the branches also, and top them after they develop a couple nodes. Personally, I'm liking SCROG nets better. With an auto, I'd bend her over after the fourth node and put her under a scrog net. Place the pot/res offset to one side and train her across the net. I'm about to do that when the right time comes with an auto I’m hoping to get 1+ pounds from.

i have tried pushing my ogre too far, i tied it down when it was still a sprout, then under a net, then tied out. it hasnt worked.

i had best results waiting about 2.5-3.5 weeks. i tend to be bending leafs out of the way as soon as possible to expose the nodes and get them started, when i have 3 or 4 sets of nodes i bend the main stem over and again continue to bend leaves out of the way by hand twice a day for a couple of days to expose the nodes. within 2 days the nodes are usually above the leaves and the main stem needs tying back down at the tip. then just leave it.

i did do it too early with my fantasmo i have in at the moment, i only got 4 top nodes in total, it got too leggy too fast, i will deffo wait until i have 6 nodes to work with next time. I guess a lot of it is strain dependent really.
