Hello,

I was wondering when you should start the veg nutes (nitrogen-rich would be best?) and when should I switch to flower nutes (phosphorous-rich would be best?)

Or should I just use an all around 20-20-20; and if so, when should I start it after germination?

Also, is it best to cut off nitrogen during the flower stage?

First grow.:hump:

Welcome to AFN. When to start veg nutes depends on what kind of soil you are using. If you're using a nutrient rich soil like FFOF, you probably won't need any veg nutes till after week 3 or 4. If you're using a soil less mix, like Pro Mix or Sunshine, you may need some mild veg nutes as early as day 12 - 15. Keep your plants on veg nutes till vertical growth stops, usually in week 5 or 6, then feed bloom nutes till about 2 weeks before the plants are ready to harvest. Give only plain, pHed water the last two weeks. More info here: https://www.autoflower.org/f44/life-cycle-auto-flowering-cannabis-5113.html

Welcome Spirit.

Muddy answered your question spot on. I follow his feeding schedule in regards to timing of veg and flower nutes. The most important thing i've learned from Muddy is that it is crucial to keep feeding veg until vertical growth stops usually around week 5 or 6 like he says. If you induce flower nutes too soon, your plants will turn thier attention to budding and you won't have the maximum potential vertical growth you could have had, had you'd continue using the veg nutes for another week or two. It will reward you in the end.

Good luck, and again Welcome to Autoflower Network. Happy to have you.:smokebuds:

Thanks for the quick reply! Appreciate the info. I'll read that link.

I'm really excited that I found this forum. :)

I got a follow up question, so I'm just borrowing the thread for a quickie:

IF you start flower nutes earlier, say at preflower state... Does that mean the plant becomes stunned and put its energy into flowering? I'm asking because I got a fairly limited space to grow, might suit me to switch earlier.

I will add my :2cents:. I use AN nutes and can say for a fact the plants I used Bud Blood on stopped vertical growth and induced flowering sooner no doubt. My other plants continued to put on 6 inches+ growth. Look in my link in the height variations in my room. I would think swapping to bloom is fine as long as they have shown sex I dont see it as a problem just depends how big or small you want your plants. I also would think it would stop or slow vertical growth.

Welcome to the community, spirit. :bong:wishing you all the best in your growing. :toke:
