Thank you minime, If i do go for the Viper then it's got a "Best Offer" as well so i might save a little more if i'm lucky

I've got to the point where i'm looking at lights without a name on fleebay and I know they are knock off's made on the cheep but they are starting to look good

Its between vipar or mars's new "old style". Marshydro have good reputation but im not sold on the 5w diodes atm

I very much agree about the MarsHydro having a good reputation but like you i'm not sold on the 5Watt diodes either.

I feel the 5Watt diodes are not being used to their full potential or we are being misled about the actual Lumins they produce.

The reason i came to that conclusion is that i've read their Spec's and compared them to actual growers that are using them and the growers nearly All said the same thing that compaired to their old MarsHydro 3Watter lights the new one's had to be closer to the plants and didn't cover the same amount of area or that they were not as bright as the old ones.

I would have thought that having upgraded the diodes from 3 to 5 Watt's they should have upgraded the power supplies to at least the same useable power or more but in doing so they would have had to upgrade the cooling system which would have made them a lot more costly to us the buyers.

If you bought a basic model car and installed 4x TV's and a Playstation, 10 Huge Speakers and a Coffee Machine you wouldn't take the 12 Volt Battery out and replace it with a 6 Volt Battery would you?
I'm not an electrician and could be wrong but It would seem to me that they have shot themselves in the foot this time just to try and keep their good name and make it sound like this is a Huge leap in upgrades.

Anyway... I made an Offer on the Viper 300 Watt Led Light just now so i can stop panicking now
My First offer of £60 was refused so i made a Second offer of £63 and that was also refused
My Third and final offer of £65 was accepted so i'm now the proud owner of a Viper 300 Watt LED.
The Only Problem now is that i forgot it is a Bank Holiday this weekend so i'm going to have to wait an extra day for delivery

the other four panel's are blackstar's I have been using for the last five year'si have replaced one panel, and got a refurbished blackstar for 50 buck's on fleabay auctionnormaly a 250.00 panel.
your vipar will do just fine for up to two plant's

Hi astronomy420a and thank you for for the confirmation that my new Viper should be enough for 2 Sexy Girl's that smell Amazing.
I was hopeing it would be big enough for at least 1 and a half plants plus some CFL's to cover the rest so you have just made my day

I was looking at the Blackstar lights and placed a few Bid's for them but they soon went well over my small buget
The write up's that i read about them were pretty dam good also but the price of them reflects that so i'll be getting a Lottery Ticket for tonight and keep my fingers crossed lol...

I've got to wait untill Wed/Thursday till my Viper gets here now and then my baby Auto Grandaddy Purple can have it all to herself for 8 to 10 Weeks, She was born on the 21st Aug.

Been using a 135w UFO Blackstar for 3 years now, in a tent similar to yours, I add two 105w CFLs for extra lumens and grow two plants at a time. It's a cheap option and yields are around 2-3 oz. per plant

Hey rotweiller.. ive been using a vipar 300w panel for just over a year in a 0.8 x 0.8 x 1.6m tent and can safely say that for the price its great.. ive got quite a few pics on here of some of my grows.. im sure if u link thru my name u can find em and see what sort of results im getting with it.. good luck with your grow ;-)

Thats a pretty good yield from an outstanding LED Light
I've still got my eye on 2 Auctions with Blackstar LED's that finish in the early hours of next week so i'm still crossing my fingers just in case i can add to my growtent or greenhouse. Both were listed with spelling mistakes in the wrong category so time will tell and you can't beat using CFL's for side lighting (even low 10 Watt cfl's make a big difference).

I've always grown Photo's so you've now given me a target to aim for with my first indoor Auto GDP although she'll be 2 weeks old when my Viper gets here (I'm trying to think up other excuses to go with that just in case i fail ).
