I learned long ago, a larger container is easier to ph. With small containers its a m.f'er to keep ph levels where you want them.
If you got some spare ph up and down try this. Take a solo cup ph it 5.8 do same thing to your tub. See which raises in ph level fastest, and which one you spend time messing with more to maintain that 5.8.
The more water content, easier and slower ph swings. Remember plants are feeding and drinking. Also water naturally swings its ph. On my ebb and flow, I was running 2 50 gallon tanks I only had to ph 1 time a week in veg, flower every 3 days. Sometime less, depending alot on my veg flower time. So no I dont think size is the problem. The problem you will face with a larger res, matching a pump to draw water the distance, and a pump that can deliver efficiently. Remember to match the pump on the height the pump has to actually draw water upwards, and at rate of delivery you want.

Lets say you have a 6 ft tall res, you don't want a pump that is only able to draw 2 ft. You can use a 6 ft delivery pump on a 2 ft draw though. Big word of caution larger the pump more heat it creates as well during its run time. If timed heats not an issue. Also like you my system will be pissing in the container. I robbed my setup from another forum, but have a bit of changes then they had. At moment I am playing with 1/2 and 1/4 line. I am liking the 1/2 line more, but the size of it, makes it near impossible to deliver water at the root base. Which is my goal. So for now I am running 1/4 inch hose to the out side of my root riot plug, no sprayer and probably wont have one, as I am playing with holes and hating thought of a clogged head.
Also with a larger res, your temps will need to watched, as yours is low now, you will need something to keep them up. When summer comes it will take a bit more to cool it as well.

I started a thread on my Short Ryder, keep in mind everything said there. Soon I will be posting up some pictures and a dyi of my setup. I can show some basics what I done, but nothing really set in stone at moment on how this is going to turn out.

Fwiw,
Biggest reason I am moving from the ebb and flow, is meeting my mmp requirements. With the ebb and flow, I would have needed to run two systems taking up more space I don't want to give up. Even sealing the second res up I would need another control bucket to feed the others. As well I dont need hassles of being over on my 2.5 allowed oz's. With current plans I can place them anywhere 5 buckets will fit. If plant starts getting out of hand, scissors can kick their ass back to size fast. Though in my nets, I am tying strings and laying them back out of way till plant develops. I plan on lsting them heavily.

Give me a week and I will have a post up of my dyi of my system. I will caution as I am a capable grower and am copying a few others design. I wont be held responsible for anyone deciding to try my layout and fucking their seeds/plants/ clones/ house/dog/girlfriend/neighbor/ or what have you up. I need the week as I am using the clones to see what is working best. Want a real good laugh? 1 clone I have in a solo cup filled with perlite and the root plug. I am using 2 measuring cups to feed at moment, while I test / kill the first. The one in the solo is getting watered 4 times a day. I just move the cup to a measuring cup and pout contents of one measure to other.

I am determined get this set up running well before I toss an auto though it. Remember I am changing things as I test this system about daily, who knows I may add a res yet. Though I prefer not to, I know the added advantages of the extra water, plus it would allow an air stone per bucket and added top feed.

bloody hell stoking had to read that 3 times lol :D

yeah should do a test run myself before i let go full steam, thinkin of doing a smaller res/tank (10L) just for the veg stage 2-3weeks say
then just lift the net pots out and straight into the big one with fresh nutes waiting...just for convienence like

Good luck Chops.. I'll help you if I can bro.. :cough: I grow in DWC oxypots though.. Not sure about drip fed systems.. But if I can answer a Q or 2 I will man..

Peace out Chops.
