White stuff in the main cola. Mold or bud rot?

Guys, I need help. I've just harvested my 3 plants and noticed that one of them (different strain than the other two btw.) has some white stuff in it. In top half of the main cola.

I've cut out the main cola and also the affected part to investigate. I also cut that part in half to see how it looks inside. See pictures.
What do you guys think it is? Will the rest of the plaint be fine? Can it spread to my other plant if I dry them together (without that sick part of course)? Can I use that affected part for something?

Btw., the main cola was directly under the LED light and it was pretty warm. Also, I found a spider living in the tent few weeks back and some small ones living outside the tent, but searching around I would say it's not probably related. Just throwing it in here.

The rest of the main cola - view from the top after cutting off the affected part. No sign of white stuff.

Thanks for any help

I have no idea, but it doesn't look good. I'd toss it unless someone has other ideas

It could be mold but that looks more like spider mites to me. Usually mold can't be seen on the outside of the bud like that unless it's very severe. It's usually deeper inside the bud where there is little or no air circulation. Take a magnifying glass and look on the underside of the leaves. If it is mites, you should be able to see them crawling around. Either case, it's unsmokeable.

I'm going to place my bet on very bad mould,it's the dead leaves surrounding that make me think that.....defiantly the time of year to be extra vigalent.

LOL, besides the white, the dead leaves also have me thinking spider mites. When I've had them bad I always get the dead leaves. But mold is the more likely candidate indoors.

Thanks for your replies. I've cut down, trimmed and now drying my 3 plants. One other cola had some "white stuff" inside. After some research I believe it is something called "bud rot", not spider mites. And if it was mildew It would be everywhere but it wasn't. So it is a mold from dying leaves inside the cola. The humidity might have been little too high and the main cola was very dense and couldn't breath inside, so that's how it probably started.
Except for the dead leaves it was not visible until I opened the bud so I am hoping it was contained inside. Still, I am gonna use those buds for something, not sure for what. It would be a waste of a good product. :)

Next time I will grow one or two plants at a time. The place was overcrowded and I couldn't watch them girls properly. Lesson learned.

That to me looks like a combo of bud rot with some white powdery mold.... Please before using any of the rest of the buds on the plant check out this video:

be mindful whatever it is, if mold than keep an eye on your buds while drying that it don't appear else where... :karma Cloud:
