Well I wouldn't leave them sitting in the water, that could cause the roots to rot or the plant to be stunted. But yea keeping the soil from completely drying out while she grows a few nodes and sets herself up is a good idea.
How old is that seedling ? Looks overwatered to me ...
if the soil is prefertilized it might work for photo plants and be too hot for autos ...

Is your dad growing the same strain? I think if you get a hygrometer to check humidity that could be your issue if its that dry..If the humidity is too low, then your babies going to do a lot of transpiring and it will play havoc with her transportation systems, in the summer here I placed wet towels in my grow room to increase the humidity and a bowl of water by my intake fan worked a treat
If yesterday's pic was 5 days old it's not doing bad ... at ten days the pic looks to be a few days behind ... not at all uncommon ... I recently started a thread asking when these things 'Take Off' cause I had 2 seeds in a row looked like yours after more than a week ... I was testing some soil on the first so I think it was too hot and with the second one I'm thinking that maybe my dual spectrum LED (Advanced LED Extreme Flower120) was not much good for seedlings though it flowers well ... Post up another pic and let us see how it's doing.

Another point to mention is I don't have fresh air exchange as I'm in a loft and have been told that lofts have good airflow to repel mold so I didn't think air exchange would be an issue, especially for seedlings also
