Hi! So my White Widow, AK-49, & Trans Siberian just turned a week old since sprouting, but they are only about two inches high? Is that normal? Or should I start feeding them grow big? It took them a week to sprout to the surface as well even after I germinated them! Any help is appreciated
Just dirt, with some horse shit, not ocean forest or whatever it is called! It's great soil, no fertilizers or anything in it tho. Are those way too small or is it just me?
Hey man, I don't have a whole lot of experience but I know what it's like when you're waiting for answers! The plants themselves look healthy, some are slower than others and the majority of growers I've interacted with start with a light feeding around week 2. If there are no nutrients in your soil mix at all you may want to start earlier, but seriously - LIGHT feed If for any reason this doesn't work out you could try a soil that's been tried and tested on here, I used Plagron light mix, seems pretty popular and does a good job of supporting the seedlings in those early stages, sorry I can't be more help bro
They look about 3-5 days old.
You don't want to start nuting them yet. I'd leave it another 10-14 days before you start introducing grow nutes.
Why are they not growing as quickly as expected? Maybe the soil is too heavy, MJ loves a nice light (airy) soil to spread its roots easily.
I'm not too up on organic growing but just "dirt with some horse shit" doesn't sound overly promising for a healthy start.
Nah it's actually from a professional, ph was balanced & it was fresh healthy soil, I should have put in more perolite in it I bet it's a tad to heavy. I bet I can still get some skunk off them just not as much as I had hoped.
You will get differing opinions on which light cycle is best for veg. I personally like to give them a little rest to play catch up. Your girls look great so far, it probably just seems like they are going slow. I know how that goes. Like the other guys said, I would never give nutes to something that young in soil even in hydro really. The first two things that popped off the seed coat that don't look like leaves are cotyledons. The cotyledons job is to keep the sprout alive until it sets up a root system, kind of like an egg yolk feeds a baby chicken while its developing. The point is that they have stored energy to get them through the first few weeks of life. The main problem people run into with seedlings is nute burn. Your playing a waiting game right now, just relax and let her grow. During veg, if the soil is good like you say, you wont need to add nutes unless you see yellowing and such. I hope that wasn't too long winded, im pretty baked.
and best of luck on your grow!! Positivity goes a long way in the garden.
