Hi all,
I am hoping to learn more about edibles and would like some input.
Brief background: For the past few years I have had insomnia. I am wide awake at night and toss and turn until 3 -5 am. About a month ago I decided that I wanted to grow some weed even though I don't smoke weed because in the past it has made me feel very anxious and my mind runs wild. It's been really unpleasant. But, that doesn't mean that I don't love to grow. My original plan was to just give away my crops to people in need.
After doing a lot of research to prepare my grow I became very interested to try some of the high cbd and medical strains hoping that the cbd would counteract the psychoactive effects. I figured since I had my medical recommendation I might as well go to a good medical collective and sample a few strains. I got a high cbd strain and a heavy indica to help with sleep. My hope was that the high cbd strain would relax me without the mind trip. If I want to trip I will eat shrooms and go to the desert
While I was at the collective they offered me a free edible rice crispy treat made by TKO edibles. They told me to break it into 4 pieces. I was a little nervous about eating this one night before bed, but to my surprise the high was pleasant. It came on very slowly and I could tell that I felt relaxed and sleepy, but without any real psychoactive effects. I slept like a baby. On Sunday afternoon I ate another piece during the day and just felt relaxed, calm and sleepy but was able to act normal and carry on with a very pleasant day. Last night I ate another piece and by 11:30 I could barely keep my eyes open. It was GREAT to get a good night's sleep!
So far I really like the edibles because the effect comes on slowly, I don't have to stink up my house with dank smoke , they help me sleep, and I am not experiencing any real psychoactive high.
A few questions:
Is this just beginners luck or is it the ingredients in these specific edibles or do edibles often have this effect or does it differ from person to person? In other words why am I having such a good experience when smoking most buds just trips me out?
What part of the plant is used to make edibles? This is a large scale company (TKO in California) and a rice crispy treat only costs $6 and reads 15x on the wrapper. Each treat can be broken down into 6-8 doses. So I figure they must be using leaf, shake and plant matter to make these treats, hence the low cost. Unfortunately the wrapper does not state the ingredients or amount of cannabanoids
I take the mmj after dinner when my belly is full. Does this slow the absorption of the thc? (This would be a desired effect for me since I really don't like to feel high)
If I continue to eat small amounts of edibles will I be able to build my tolerance to mmj and be able to smoke the occasional bowl without being completely zonked?
So far I am pretty excited to find something that helps me sleep and doesn't want to make me hide under my bed
Please share your experiences with me if edibles react similarly for you.
Thx,
Sunny
